“Popular with locals and visitors alike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Hodes is on the outskirts of the downtown and is a great place for families. A children's play section is shared with kids and parents and the tables are right nearby. GOod typical food, rice and beans and the like, as well as a full bar!

“Awesome Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

I am a very picky person when it comes to food. We ended up stopping here because we did a tour of the Mayan Ruins with Carnival and lunch was included with it.

They served us chicken, rice and beans, and some deep fried little banana (I forget what they are called lol). I was very skeptical, but everything tasted really good. Nothing was dry and it was all full of flavor. If you are in the area, I would recommend you try this place.

“A day of Adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

We were on a day trip from Placencia to San Ignacio, to see the Mayan Ruins. After having walked from the ferry, climbed the ruins and walked back to the ferry, we were quite tired and hungry. Our guide suggested we stop @ Hode's for lunch. The restaurant was a very spacious, covered, outdoor setting. Service was great and the food was excellent!

“Xunantunich Tour Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We stopped at Hode's Place following a tour of the Xunantunich ruins as a part of a cruise excursion. That being the case, we neither chose food from their menu nor paid for the meals directly. Also, since this was the only local food we had in Belize, I can't speak to how it compares with similar Belizean food.

All of that being said, it was a refreshing stop on our way from San Ignacio back to Belize City. We were served bamboo chicken, a bit of plantain, potato salad, and rice and beans. The rice and beans, especially, while simple, were fantastic. Hode's also has a generous beverage menu with several local wines and what seemed to be a decent beer selection. The outdoor seating is incredibly spacious.

When we visited, there were a number of merchants hanging outside of the restaurant selling the same trinkets everyone else in the area seems to be selling. Some are quite pushy and seem rather unscrupulous; if you're not in the market to buy knick-knacks after dining, it's probably best simply not to acknowledge them.

“We love Hode's!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

A great lunch stop, after a morning of exploring the Mayan ruin sites around San Ignacio. The Belikins are cold and the local dishes are delicious! Love Hode's!
