We had picked up word that the best way to visit ATM was with Aaron. Our group of 6 booked him few days in advance, together with a Canadian couple.
We parked up almost first of the day and were last out by some margin. This may not suit everyone. Our group were fairly fit outdoors types. We got cold and we got scraped on rocks, and for us that is normal. Other groups rushed past us in and out, and for some that would probably be better, but we would have felt short changed by such a trip.
Aaron was very knowledgeable and more importantly deeply respectful of the fact that for Mayans this was a place of deep significance, equivalent of visiting any great christian cathedral or Buddhist temple. As we came out of the cave we really did feel that we had been on a journey to the underworld and ha returned.
To give a fair review, i have to say that after taking the tour we heard some very negative comments about this company but, as the review above indicates, we found them to be probably the best of the tour operators we used. In fact, the comments were so negative I'm suspicious that there are some local politics involved, but hey, I'm just visiting...
