Driving along the western highway just east of San Ignacio you will see signs for the Orange gift shop. The owner must have a few connections to get things so well marked. If you stop at the gift shop you will think it is just one of those tourist stops for the cruise buses, which it may be. However, behind the shop is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Since the Chinese have established a dominance in the grocery business, they have also had an influence on some menu choices. The Orange does a great job of blending the Carribean and Asian flavors on one menu and all of it comes out very well for the price. There is a well stocked bar. Try a Belikin Stout if you like dark beer. The hotel may not seem to be a destination place but it would be a great choice if you needed a home base for adventures on your own or booking with independent guide services. This is the best place to eat between Belmopan and San Ignacio.
