We were really looking forward to a great time with Dennis' tour company from what we read. here in these reviews. However, our experience was not at all what we had hoped for.
We were the first ones to arrive at terminal #1 off the first tender like he advised. He told us to go sit and come back in 15 minutes. When we did he said to give him another 15 minutes. When we came back the 'van' was gone. He then had someone drive us in their very old personal car at a fast clip to catch up with the van.
When the van door opened there were three tiny fold down seats available. Two of the seats were broken and impossible to sit in. The other 7 people in the van were very upset by the time we caught up to them. The driver drove rather recklessly.
We were told that we would be zip lining first...but later found out that they were not ready to accomodate this at all. They kept saying we would have enough time and they would check with another group to bring us back.
No where did the description say that it took a 45 minute hike to get to the location where the tubing would begin. There was a handicap man and little girl in our group who needed much assistance and this took up all of the guide's attention. He was not much available to the rest of this group especially during the tubbing. We all began to scatter and I found myself gravitating to the other large groups with tour guides who had large lamps (that were much needed in areas) and who were very organized and helpful.
There were times when we needed assistance over the rapids and it was given by the other tour guides when our guide was no where to be found.
By the time we got back to the park he would not admit that there wasn't enough time for the zip lining excursion. We had to ask how long it would take to get back to make our departure time.
Everyone in the van opted out of the lunch stop since there wasn't enough time. It was a long day of scary transportation and chaos.
The cave tubing itself was a wonderful experience. I would go again but with a different company. The amount of the excursion was in question the whole time. The guide didn't know how much it was going to cost. He asked for $5 per person to get into the park (???) This was listed as included on the website. $5 for lunch???. And since we didn't do the zip lining we kept asking how much they were going to charge our credit card after the $30 deposit they required prior to our arrival.
The guide kept trying to get us to give him cash. We kept asking for the total amount minus the zip lining. He kept having to call and finally said he did not know. But that we would have to give him $45 per person and then $60. We did not give any money at the end. I just checked my credit account and it appears they took $30 and some change (???) as a deposit and then $50 and some change for the balance. I will watch my account to see if they take any more.
Please...be advised to use another company. The other groups were having a lot more fun and someone to truly guide them. There would not have been enough time to do both ziplining and cave tubing and make it back to the cruise ship for the last tender...even if you are on the first tender at 8 am.
I wish I had read a review like this before hand.
