“Best Cave Tubing in BZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Highly recommend Cave Tubing BZ over any other company, including the excursions arranged through the cruiseline. We were met by a representative of the tour company outside Terminal 1 and guided to the bus. Once arriving at the bus we were immediately given a cold bottle of water (nice touch!). On the ride to the rainforest, guides Alfredo and Naidy gave us an introduction to the country, its history and culture. Our first stop was their office pavilion, where we paid our fee ($45 pp). There are bathrooms available and soda and bug spray for sale.

We were then driven to the rainforest. There are bathrooms and changing rooms at the forest welcome center. The tour guides provide a tube, helmet with head torch and a life vest.

Our cave guides were Alfredo and Barry. Both were excellent and went out of their way to give our group the best experience possible. We saw many other tour groups on our trip and none received the high quality of service that was provided by Cave Tubing BZ. Other groups had to carry their own tubes on the 40 minute walk through the rainforest. Most groups were rushed through the forest and were not given additional information on the plants/wildlife. Almost all other groups dropped into the river before us and missed an entire cave.

Once our cave tubing experience was complete, we were driven back to the patio office. Lunch was delicious-- stewed chicken, rice & beans and coleslaw. Unlimited rum punch was provided, you could also get water and soda for non-alcoholic options. We were delivered back to the cruise terminal in time to do a little shopping before getting back on the boat.

You will not find a better deal or better service. This was the best excursion of our cruise.

“Wonderful Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

We did the zip line and cave tubing tour. Our tour guide Richard told us a lot of interesting information about Belize city as he drove us to the site. The two zip line guides who helped us were very knowledgeable and friendly. They made sure we felt safe and comfortable and even helped take pictures for us! When we were done, Richard took us to the cave tubing site where we did not have to carry our own tubes. We walked leisurely in a group of 7 to the caves as Richard told us about the local flora and fauna. During this time, other tours in huge groups had to rush past us while carrying their own tubes. The caves were beautiful and Richard steered the tubes so that I could get the best pictures. When we got out of the caves, we continued to float down the river and enjoy the scenery as the other tour groups had to get out and start walking. At the end of the day, Richard drove us back to the zip line site for lunch and rum punch! Overall, this was a wonderful day and I would highly recommend booking with cavetubingBZ!

“wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

We met our guide outside of the port in Belize. We were on an air conditioned bus and began our hour long journey to the caves. Our guide Jorge was informative and funny as we rode through town and out to the caves. We were given information about the city as well as the economy and updates on what it was like to live in Belize. The trip to the caves was approx. 1 hour and we were engaged in Belize culture the entire way. We stopped at the site to pay and rent water shoes if necessary as well as use the bathrooms before we started our journey. I would recommend not wearing the water shoes for this journey. My fiancé wore tennis shoes and I rented water shoes and the path to the caves if full of river rock and I did not feel that the water shoes offered any protection on the soles of your feet. Please for your sake wear shoes with good protective bottoms, your feet will thank you.
After arriving at the jungle, we were given helmets with lights and life jackets, our guide sent some co-workers ahead of us with our tubes so that we did not have to carry tubes through the jungle.
On our journey, we were educated on specific tress of the jungle, what bark to eat if you got bitten by a snake and our guide cut down a palm nut and cracked it open on a rock and passed it around for all of to sample. We watched other tubers carrying their tubes walk past us as we were getting the scenic informational tour.
We walked to the furthest point where we were able to float through an extra cave and enjoy turning off our lights and floating in complete darkness for a few minutes to truly experience the inside of a cave.
The experience was wonderful and the float down the river was approx. 1.5 hours not counting the time spent walking to the cave. These were truly the most beautiful caves we have ever visited and a must do for stopping in Belize.
A few things to consider....bring a bottle of water with you, the walk to the caves can be a bit long, especially since they are stopping often to give you information on the jungle. I was a bit thirsty and overheated by the time we got to the water. (you may want to bring 2 water bottles, just make sure they are properly disposed of after you are done.) Also consider bringing a snack along, just make sure to take any waste with you when you leave.
Consider not doing the zip lining, others in our group did both zip lining and cave tubing and were not treated to the additional cave because of time constraints. If you choose to do both, your cave tubing experience will be a bit less because of trying to get both activities during the same amount of time.
Lunch back at the "base" was wonderful. The chicken, rice and beans and the coleslaw were wonderful, the fried plantains were wonderful as well and the rum punch was the topper on everything. They even gave you "sippy cups" to take on the bus ride back to port.
We learned that every driver in Belize has a PhD or they get a BMW. You will have to find out about this on your own.
The staff warn you about bringing cell phones or cameras into the caves. I left my camera sunglasses and phone back in the bus. I wish I would have brought it. Yes, you have the chance of it getting wet and ruined, but when we learned how calm the river was it was a chance we would have taken (not a 500$ I phone, but our small $99 dollar cannon quick shot camera. Inside of a plastic bag would have been fine as you are not really submerged in the water) yes there is a change it could get wet or lost, but if you are careful it would have been alright.
Enjoy your tour, share with other cruise ship passengers, this was truly an amazing experience that we will one day return and take our kids on.

“Wonderful Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

This was a wonderful adventure. Even the ride (potholes included) was great because Nati was continuously telling us about the culture, the city and answering any of our questions which helped make the approximately hour long ride worth it. The fact that we didn't have to carry our tubes was fabulous as it is a pretty long walk to the river. Again, we were informed throughout the walk. We were shown different trees, leaves, termite mounds, and all kinds of things. The river is very refreshing once you make that walk. It was so relaxing and enjoyable laying in the tube, listening to the guides, and looking at all the formations in the caves. On this tour, we went through 2 caves, so it was extremely worth the walk. People who took the tour booked from the cruise ship only got to go through one cave....and they had to carry their tubes to the river.
When we finished at the river, we went back to have lunch. The chicken, rice and beans and the rum punch were all great. They even provided us seconds of lunch, then took a gallon of rum punch back in the van with us for our ride back to the boat.
Other than the fact that the "water shoes" have no cushion and the entire walk if rocks, it was wonderful. If you have sensitive feet or foot problems of any kind, wear tennis shoes, or some type of shoe with a think sole.

“Great time tubing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

They go by the name cave tubing.bz now and they were great. Leo was our guide - animated, energetic and informed. We chose to book a trip directly rather than through the cruise ship and were rewarded with a trip through two caves rather than the one the cruise ship tours did.
