“Noisy last night of our vacation. Room not ready for check in at 5pm.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

When the climate is hot and humid, a working air conditioner is very important. The air conditioner was very loud, and failed to cool the room to a comfortable temperature when set to max cool for the entire time.

We had spent the day on a tour, and arrived damp, dirty and sweaty, to find that our reserved room was not yet ready. We were given tickets for two complementary rum punches, which were the poorest of our trip. I would have preferred a shower on arrival to the hotel instead of having to wait. We were not able to go to the room until about 6:00.

Breakfast buffet included very wet scrambled eggs, with standing water in the bottom of the pan for some reason. The main course was chopped hot dogs. The coffee wasn't gone, and when the coffee pot was replaced full a half hour later, nearly all 40 or so people in the room ran for it like it was the only exit in a fire.

After 8 nights in a very small, poorly funded, sparsely staffed hotel with excellent service and a strong, quiet air conditioner, it was a little surprising to find the fancy hotel with many employees so lacking.

Room Tip: Check your air conditioning unit before settling in. Go somewhere else for breakfast.

Stayed here for one night the end of February before we flew home. Lots to do here, especially if you like casinos. Breakfast buffet was quite good, lots of variety. The restaurant on the water, which was lovely, had disappointing food unfortunately. We would stay for a few nights again if we came back to Belize City.

We stayed here on a layover at the end of our trip. After a couple weeks of more primitive digs I thought it would be a fun change for the family. And it was! Like many things in Belize, the Princess felt like going back in time. Maybe 1985 in this case. The bowling Alley was great! The arcade games and bowling equipment were all fun, serviceable and at least 25 years old. Having only sandals and no socks with us, we appreciated that we didn't have to wear bowling shoes. The lunch buffet was a mysterious yet not unsavory hodge-podge of meat casseroles and stews. Some curry, some beef stroganoff, some eggplant-itallion-something.... curiously, the desserts were almost all yogurt based. Other oddities included a staircase that terminated in a giant pile of discarded floor lamps, and a pool that is *enormous* and yet bafflingly shallow. A meter is about as deep as it gets. It is the worlds largest kiddie pool! Some downsides: we did not have enough towels and the first room we had had a semi-functioning AC and a crappy cathode ray TV. The club on a Saturday night was SUPER loud and annoying. But, the view of the sea was lovely and we enjoyed watching the birds fly at eye level on the 5th floor. We got a $10.00 voucher for the casino and had a good time playing that, watching the show-girls and drinking several free drinks. I thought the breakfast buffet was fine including the aforementioned hot-dogs and also a small olive bar (?!). I feel like if you approach the Princess with a sense of humor, knowing that all hotels in Belize City are expensive and not great, that you'll have a good time. We stayed at the Radisson at the beginning of our trip - it was much nicer but way less fun/wacky.

Room Tip: Get a room on the opposite side from the club. As high as you can.

This hotel was definitely worth the money. It has no beach but you can look at the river (it wasn't the best thing to look at though). The room was nice and the bathroom was clean as well, however, it has a smell to the room when you first walk in (It may be because the air conditioner isn't running until the room is occupied).

Room Tip: I don't have a tip for a good room but I will say the view was nice.

This proved to be a good choice for a layover in Belize City. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and the staff was very friendly. I had some very good ceviche for dinner and absolutely loved the big (included) breakfast buffet. I ended up eating so much at breakfast that I skipped lunch! They have a great pool and a comfortable bar area with lots of seating. Overall this isn't a super fancy hotel, but it offers great value for the money.

This hotel has been going down hill for a long time, at one time they started working to improve the property. I guess that didn't work out. I decided to give it one more chance. Unbelievable. The coffee machine in the coffee shop did not work, no morning coffee. The shower did not work, the fridge did not work. The machine for room keys was broken, no keys. If all of us left the room we had to get a guard to accompany us back to the room to let us in. There are a couple of nice places in Belize City, this just is not one of them. None of the items listed where fixed before we left. Enough said.

Don't judge the country of Belize by Belize City. The rest of the country is really very beautiful. This hotel was really very nice considering that Belize City is a bit rough. Me and my group of ten cyclist felt quite safe here. The hotel even allowed us to keep our bicycles in our rooms. I would gladly stay here again.
