We had a delicious meal at The Great House Restaurant. We sat outdoors by a fountain among lovely plantings. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when we noticed that we had two different menus. They had a new printing. We suggested it might be less confusing if all people at the same table have the same menues. The service was great.

Upstairs we asked about tour services etc. from the hotel even though we were staying at the Radisson across the walk. The desk clerk was quite pleasant and gave us a map and some information because the tour desk was closed.

On a return trip, we would stay here. The building is beautiful in the old British colonial style. The picture that friends who stayed here took of their room was similar to that of The Great House website. We were reluctant to on this trip, because there was no listing at TripAdvisor.

The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that the room wasn't ready when they said it would be so we had to sit downstairs in the bar for an hour to wait for it to be ready. It's a very nice, pleasant bar though, so it was ok :)

I would say that the Great House is one of the nicest hotels in the city. I would choose this one over any of the others. It was clean, though it is true that there are tiny little ants in the bathrooms...don't expect much better in Belize City though.
This hotel was nice depending on the room that you get. The rooms vary quite a bit and most are decorated nicely. Room 15 is very pretty, but the music from the Smokey Mermaid (restraunt downstairs) is sometimes loud and may keep you awake. Room 14 is the best, request this one if you can. I asume 13 is also very nice. The rooms out front are nice, but not as modern. Beware of room 12, unless you like carnival decorations...creepy.
The service was okay depending on who is helping you. The Smokey Mermaid is beautiful, and the food is usually very good though pricey.
