“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013 via mobile

Very enjoyable with great food & wonderful view - lots of history. Staff were very accommodating & concerned about ensuring a quality stay.

We were there on two different occasions in November - December 2012.

We stayed several days in Belize City, waiting for our small cruise ship to get a new generator (no, we didn't have to be towed back!). The hotel is a bit worn but very comfortable, and the staff was fantastic with their helpful advice and friendliness. We had an ocean view and loved seeing the water and sky at all different times of day. The 2 pools were clean and pleasant, and the bar by the main pool was great. We had several meals at their main restaurant and enjoyed the food and the view, although the service was slow. ( Most of the other restaurants in the area were a quick taxi ride away. Most of the city is rather scruffy, with burglar bars on the windows and evidence of previous flooding.) We would stay there again if we ever visit Belize City again.

I stayed there for over one week. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I ate at all restaurants, the service was very good at all times, the food was good not great. The Sunday Brunch at St. George's was more like midday lunch, very limited breakfast offerings.

The rooms were cleaned daily, and were generally cleaned well. Some housekeepers had better attention to detail, others were average.

The hotel can do with a fix up. I found the carpets in the hallway to be a bit musty.

The Radisson does a airport pick up and drop off, but it is not free.

Personally I found the price to be a bit expensive when compared to other international hotels.

The spa was not a true spa, it was an area over the pool, surrounded by curtains. While you are getting a massage or facial you can hear the noise from the pool and the bar; not very relaxing.

The location was good, adjacent to the sea wall, where you can go walking or running in the afternoon. It is fairly close to downtown, with a 10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket. However, if you don't feel like walking, there are taxis on property that can take you anywhere you want to go.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not close to the ice maker. It can be very noisy.

Staff is great; everyone friendly and professional.
Food is good fare, rooms roomy and clean. I had a pool view room in the building accross the street - very nice lobbies for both.
The water station is a great idea too!.
I definitely would stay there again.

I travel a lot for my work and estimate I spend at least 100 nights per year sleeping in hotels. The Radisson is an old hotel and shows evidence of this everywhere, however it is very clean and stuff works just fine. The rooms are basic but very clean and I personally prefer the cheaper rooms with the non-ocean view. The food is good, honest Caribo-Latin fayre so don't expect cordon bleu and the drinks are reasonably priced. What sets this place apart though is the staff who are, with one singular exception (you know who you are), all exceptionally polite and helpful at all times. I've stayed in luxury hotels that I have enjoyed less because their staff have not been as friendly, so this place makes up for lack of luxury with its heart.

Room Tip: Avoid sea-view rooms as they have seen better days.

We love the Radisson so much that it has become our number one pick when spending the night in Bze City. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and clean and the view of the sea is just amazing. It centrally located there are plenty of restuarants around so we dont need to drive or walk around the city much.

i stayed here for business, a trip sponsored by another a government agency and so i did not make the bookings. when i arrived, i was given a room in the old wing, just off the reception area. it's closer to the tavern and breakfast/lunch area but the room was awful. old and dingy.

after leaving to go to dinner, i returned to find my room was infested with bugs, which i had seen earlier hanging around the light outside. it appears that when they turndown service came in they let the bugs in. it was horrid! BUT.....

the staff relocated me quickly to a room in the vill wing, just below the meeting rooms and this was great! Clean, comfortable and generally pleasing. so despite my bad experience, i was happy in the Villa wing and had a good stay.

also, the food was great. i ordered room service and this was also efficient and very affordable.

i had dinner for 3 nights and i spent less than US$60 which i think is great.

overall, i would stay here again, but definitely specify the villa wing when making my booking.

Room Tip: Be sure to choose Villa wing

Hi Jay,

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at the Radisson Fort George Hotel & Marina. While we are happy to know that you were happy with your stay overall, we are concerned about the feedback about the quality of your room as well as the bug problem that you reported.

Please know that we are constantly upgrading our rooms, public areas and restaurants. We are in the process of reviewing areas that need additional work and rest assured that the room you stayed in will be one of those looked at. With regard to the bugs that made their way in the room, it is unfortunate that in the tropics around this time of year, bugs and mosquitoes are at their peak. We do have the ministry of health that spray the area, but will most certainly evaluate the benefits of internal periodic spraying when the bugs are at peak.

Once again, thank you for your feedback, it is appreciated. Enjoy your day and should you be in Belize again, we hope that you consider letting us be your hosts.

Kind Regards,

The Rad Team
