“Mixed bag, but perfectly acceptable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We stayed two nights at the Biltmore on either end of a weeklong trip to Belize.

The rooms were nice but plain, air conditioning in the rooms was great, the pool and the people working there were very nice. There was free wifi that worked OK but it depended on where you were. Better in common areas than in the rooms. Sometimes even one side of the room was better than the other.

Not so great: water pressure pretty terrible and I couldn't get the water in the shower to be any more than lukewarm. My husband said he didn't have the same problem but even after he explained it to me (hot and cold knobs were backwards?) I couldn't get it any warmer. For one night it was OK for longer, I think it would have driven me crazy.

We ate at the restaurant at the hotel for three meals and it was just OK. The first day it was incredibly, painfully hot inside the restaurant. It was crowded and service was slow even though it was a buffet. They never seemed to have everything: soup was empty but by the time it was refilled they had either no bowls or no spoons. Stuff like that. OK for one meal but would have been annoying for a longer stay.

Breakfast buffet was pretty good.

This is a good place for what we did -- just a quick place to sleep that's close to the airport. If I was going to stay in Belize City for more time, I'd do more homework and pick a better hotel.

Please when needing information about the hotel, reservations, or local area, contact Sharmadine. She was wonderful. Treated us like family. Very friendly. Helped us with our transportation to and from the airport, booked tours, helped us find a great restaurant. Just over all professional and very friendly.
Hotel restaurant a bit pricey, but still good food. Hotel bar staff very funny and good atmosphere.
Hotel rooms are good quality for Belize City.
Sharmadine, thanks for making our stay wonderful!!

We had to stay over and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our family and as previous guest commented they staff are friendly and helpful. we had two rooms and the suite was wonderful and the normal room really needs work done. I agree pillows were not good, linens were clean. Restaurant service was friendly but poor. Took too long and then came back saying they did not have this and then back to say they did not have that, and then the meals that they did have came incorrect (fries instead of mash). Great location and staff.

Room Tip: Take the suite its worth the extra and no frustrations

I stay here for two to three days each spring. It is a good location between the airport and downtown. The people are very friendly and helpful. You can get laundry done if that is a need. The restaraunt is okay. The breakfast is good. The lunch is okay. You can get afternoon tea. The dinner menu is somewhat limited, but good for a night or two. They seem to stay very busy, at least this time of year. They have a contract with the US military and have a lot of them staying and eating there. That has been my experience the last two years.

Stayed here for one night. The staff were very pleasant, and the check-in was quick. Our standard room seemed quite tired. The bathtub was stained, and a leaking tub faucet left with shower with poor pressure. The toilet needed encouragement to flush, but did function. The beds were acceptable, but the pillows were rather uncomfortable. AC was good. TV worked well with lots of channels. Free wifi in the room. Can't drink the water in the room, but there were 2 free bottles of water, and coffee for the coffee maker. No in-room safe. Nice pool area with outdoor deck and bar. There was a loud party at the pool bar until after 11 pm, but they eventually settled down. Breakfast was pretty good. Although this hotel is probably relatively good for Belize City, it's average at best. Fine for an overnight stay in transit, but if you need to get to sleep early, ask if they have any rooms that don't face the pool.

First, let me say that every employee I encountered there was very pleasant.

But, the AC remote didn't work. The coffee pot was broken. And I had to put my reading glasses on in order to figure out what exactly they were serving in the breakfast buffet.

They also have a sign stating that the water from the sink is not fit to drink. They provide 2, 500ml bottles of water for free, and some flimsy paper cups. They will gladly sell you additional beverages. I walked 1/2 mile down to Brodie's supermarket to buy water.

As expensive as the place is, they charged me a fee to call a cab from the front desk.

It is far enough out from the center of town that the taxi is twice as much. And it costs twice as much as other good guest houses and hotels in the area. Unless you need a pool and room service, you would be better off staying somewhere else.

Room Tip: Try to find one where they aren't painting the stairs in front of your room.

We stayed there for one night before going out to lighthouse reef. It was located minutes from the dock where we left from and minutes from a grocery store, the only two things we needed. It has a lovely pool and pool side bar. We had seafood ceviche for dinner which was delicious. At breakfast there were no tables so the staff set us up on the patio, which was a lovely place to eat. The staff were friendly and helpful but slow slow slow. I would stay there again for a night or two on my way in or out of Belize as it is close to the airport and docks
