“Cave Tubing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2009

We went to Belize City on a seven day Carnival cruise. Our stop in Belize city was awesome because we went Cave Tubing with Vitalino Reyes of Cavetubing.bz. We were picked up just outside the dock, and because the other party was late, out driver and tour guide Joey gave us an excellent city tour for free. When we returned to the pick up point by the dock, they determined the other party was not coming. Joiy drove us the half our to the National Park where the cave tubing is located. We were quickly equipped for our 1.5 mile hike, where Joey described in detail all the details in the forests including edible fruits and plants, among things about the forest itself. He was very well informed and loved what he did. After hour arrival at the caves, he carefully explained to us how to safely get into the water and what to do and not do during our tubing experience. Our safety was always very important, and Joey was a great guide, narrating the entire time, and giving us great detail about the caves and everything else we saw. The cave tubing experience was awesome experience, and we would definitely do it again. I highly recommend this company and Joey. The only semi-negative part was that when I do it again, I would wear sneakers instead of water shoes, since the path does get rocky at times. Thanks again Vitalino and Joey!

“Professional outfit, natives to Belize, safe and fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

Good website cave-tubing.com and good communication via email.

Great communication back and forth with email messages so there was no question on pricing, time to met and how to find them. There are a lot of competing vendors but I liked these guys because they were natives to Belize and not some large outside tour company yet provided a great tour. These guys work hard for the price of the tour. If you're curising then be quick to get to port because you have to take a boat into shore and you need all the time for bus ride, hike to river, time on the river and bus ride back to port again. Don't forget your cash because that is how you pay for it. So if you're interested in a great tour and support the local economy then I recommend this company. One more suggestion: Have good water shoes that are also good and solid on path to the river(no filp flops or you have to rent some for $3.00). You don't need to be in top shape but it helps get you to river faster if your group all can walk at a quick pace so you have more float time and more time to enjoy refreshments after.

We had a seven year old that did fine but if your kids are afraid of the water or darkness of caves (even though they have a head lamp) then think twice about cave-tubbing with young kids - don't recommend younger than 8 unless way comfortable like stated above. I wouldn't have brought seven year old if I didn't think he could walk quickly and feel comfortable in cool water temps (not cold just refreshingly cool). So if you're kids don't have much body fat they may shiver a bit in the cool temps.

There is one river crossing on the way to start of tubing adventure. the water was running a bit quickly so we had seven year old buckle up his lifevest here. They watched out for my seven year old by having one guide go right behind him when he was holding onto the rope. It was a fun adventure for him to cross the river. I think he liked this as much as the cave tubbing.

“"You better 'Belize' it, says Dennis!! Cave-tubing dot com is #1!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

So happy we booked ahead of time to raft the Belize caves through Cave-tubing dot com. Dennis and his gang met us right out the back door of terminal one after we tendered from our cruise ship to Belize City, just as pre-arranged through our email exchange. We made sure to be on the first tender possible, so we could have a full day of fun.
Our names were on the board Dennis held up and we began for our day's adventures! First we had a van ride through Belize City with one of the guides,Carlos, explaining some of the local history and pointed out various buildings of interest. We then joined the larger bus, where our REAL adventure began! About 1/3 of the busload was doing the cave-tubing/ATV combo, while the rest of us were just doing the cave-tubing/jungle walk. The ATV group exited the bus first and we saw them head out on their ATV adventure.
We then drove out a couple miles more to where the jungle-trek began. There were well maintained restrooms and changing rooms for our use. We had brought water shoes along, but there were shoes available to rent for $3., as well. We also applied insect repellent we had brought with us. Pay SPECIAL attention to your ankles as there are quite a few fire ants along the 45 minute trek. Even with the repellent I got a few bites anyway. They sting when they bite you, and then a few days later started to itch me. (Hydrocortisone cream takes care of that, however.) The jungle trek was not difficult (except the brief stinging discomfort of the 'ant' bites) and many local medicinal plants and fruits growing in the wild - even a wild pineapple - were pointed out to us.
Dennis is a HOOT!!! That young man kept us all well entertained with his antics. He and the other guides insisted on carrying all the ladies' tubes and he looked hysterical with four or five intertubes on each arm - or his 'guns' as he called them!! They tied and used a "foot-hooking' system to keep our tubes in groups of six or eight that worked perfectly. As we floated down the delightful river, Dennis and the other guides pointed out rock formations and other interesting points along the way. We all wore miner's light so we could see while floating in the dark caves. This is SUCH a unique experience, so don't miss it! You won't 'belize' how fun it is!!
Afterward, we were all treated to a delicious lunch of chicken, yellow rice and beans, and cabbage slaw. They also had soft drinks, local beer (Belikan) or mixed drinks for sale at an inexpensive price, as well as ice cream and other treats. All too soon we were whsked back on the bus for our ride back to the port. We had an hour to spare before the last tender left, so plenty of time to shop at the local flea market and/or at the pier stores. An 'unBELIZE-able' day with ccave-tubing dot com!!!
