We had an unscheduled interruption in our dive trip, so the company made arrangements for us to go cave tubing. There were several companies all working out of the same area but we went with tubeproinc.com. It started with a 25 min hike through the jungle to the the river. Along the way, the guide was pointing out different trees, foliage, and formations, and telling us about some of the history of Belize. Once we got to the river, we waited a bit for one of our special needs (difficulty walking) tour members, but the tour directors took their time and made sure they were able to tube with the rest of us. The river is gently flowing and goes through several caves. The company provides life jackets and helmets with lights (token) but you'll need to bring your own flashlight if you want to see anything in the middle of caves. For safety, we were hooked together in groups of about 10 while we were on the part of the river with the caves. We were going in and out of caves for the first 2/3 of the trip, then free-floated the rest of the way to the landing point. All in all, we had a good time and I would recommend it if you're looking for a 1/2 day land excursion out of Belize City. As an aside, the same area where you start the cave tubing trip is the same area you start the zipline, canoeing, and kayaking trips. It is about an hour from Belize City so if you get there, you can do many different activities. They also have a bar/restaurant and gift shop. Overall, would recommend and do it again.
