“Cave Tubing In Belize”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

This is a must do in Belize! Our ViV guide, Cardinal, was there for us from start to finish on this tour... a "one man sensation"! He picked us up at the cruise terminal, drove us to the tubing site, suited us up with our equipment, steered, towed and guided us through the Caves and springs and filled us with an abundance of helpful and interesting information about Belize's culture, history, ecosystems, geological formations, villages, and Mayan folklore. It was a small group of 5 people, including us, which made it very personal. We traveled thru the caves in comfortable tubes and felt safe in the info and equipment we were provided, especially having a mesh netting under the tube, so you can't fall thru. While others pushed and floated their way by us quickly in much larger groups, we enjoyed our time learning about the fascinating sights on the walking trail and cave system...we never felt rushed or bored! Although lunch was not included on my particular tour, Cardinal showed us a place where we could purchase a delicious and authentic Belize meal instead of the place where other groups headed off to eat hamburgers. It was an unforgettable experience thanks to Shoretrips, who contracted ViV Tours for this trip and Cardinal, our fearless ViV tour guide!

“Unbelievable Belize Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

We got off the tender and met VIV tours waiting for us near the terminal. Kareem was our guide and driver to Altun Ha the Mayan Ruins, a tour of the city and countryside. Our family of 4 were the only ones on this tour so it was very personal. Kareem was very knowledgeable about the culture and history of Belize and presented it in such a way that our teenagers enjoyed the trip as much as we did. The ruins were amazing! The area was vast and we were able to learn about the various structures and even climbed one of the highest ruins. We had plenty of time to ask questions and see the entire sight.

We then ventured to a monkey sanctuary in the jungle. It was fun for our children to feed wild monkeys and see them in their natural habitat. Kareem pointed out wildlife and plants native to the culture. He stopped when we asked if we could take pictures.

One of the most endearing moments of the tour was when Kareem stopped to rescue a turtle crossing the road. Our teenage daughters held the turtle while Kareem drove to the river where he released the lucky critter.

It was a great cultural experience and one that we will always remember!

Kareem did a great job and we would not hesitate to recommend him for your unbelievable Belize tour.

“What a unique and great experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

It started as a rainy day when we met Marsha and Roc at the terminal..but when Flave picked us up in the van and we drove out of the city, it became sunny. We were a small group of six so we enjoyed a very personal tour. Roc started by explaining all of the history, flora, fauna, animals etc of Belize..and growing up there we could all tell he was a proud Belizian! Flave was not only our driver, but an energetic and fun tube inflator, historian and comedian.

As we started our 45 minute walk through the rainforest, Roc was very cognizant of the double knee replacement that one of our group had experienced a mere six weeks prior. He let her set the pace and it was so much better! We even commented that those other groups who trooped passed us carrying their tubes were missing so much, such as tasting termites (yes they really do taste minty), learning about the trees that can kill you and also save your life...and general facts about the rainforest.

Once we "hit the water" it was smooth sailing and what a great experience! We were able to turn off our lights and experience the total darkness, take a few extra minutes to feel the waterfall and enjoy the natural light openings. Back at the base we saw 4 monkeys as if they were staged to make our visit just that much better!

We had no worries about getting back to the ship on time and were sad to see the day end. We recommend this company and their individualized tours...as one of the other reviews said - you won't be disappointed!

“Jungle hike and Cave Tubing with Cardinal and Rock of VIV”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

I have to start out by saying that our tour guides, Cardinal and Rock, did a fantastic job and made for an amazing, as well as exciting city tour, jungle trek and tube trip through some truly awesome caves.

Riding to the destination was a crash-course in the country's cultures, politics, industry and just about anything else you would like to know about this very multi-cultural area.

You may as well be 2,000 year back in time when you hike through the canopy foliage and cross the rivers. Just make sure to bring suitable shoes that don't mind water and a bit of mud.

The V.I.V. tours have "Cadillac" tubes, which have net on the bottom and, best part of all, you don't have to carry them to the river, like the other tours do.

Now into the water, onto your tube and begin your float toward the caves. Both Cardinal and Rock point out and explain the different shapes you will be seeing, plus they have the job of steering the raft of tubes through the turns.

Cardinal and Rock went the extra mile in their efforts to make a fun ride. They jumped into the water many times to take us on a special side trip to be near something of interest or to take us next to the little waterfalls that cascaded beautifully into the river and onto your body when the guides brought each one of us to the falls.

I could see other tours around us, but I didn't see the other guides willing to jump into the water for the extra side-trips that Rock and Cardinal were willing to give us. It's hard work and they did not skimp on any of the extras.

If you are heading to Belize, put in your reservations and ask for these guides.
