“The trip through the country side alone is worth it, Mayan ruins great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Having never been to central America before this trip, all the articles I've read about Mayans seemed kind of absract, unreal. Visiting the ruins really make the culture coem to life, and I'll ahve to go back and reread some old National Geographics. The roads are pretty bad once you leave the city - but then you get a chance to see a cross section of what life is like there. I think the trip took about 1.5 hours each way. The driver was quite knowledgeable about the local plants, trees, real estate, we enjoyed the conversation. The Mayan ruins are a nice well cared for site, you can climb to the top of the various temples. Local vendors are around with wine, crafts, snacks. Worth the trip

“Shore Trips Excursion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

My husband and I, and a group of appx. 40 people, joined a "Shore Trips" Excursion, in February, to the Altun Ha Mayan Ruins. We were pleasantly surprised at how efficient Shore Trips handled this amount of people and also were very pleased with the guide they provided for our smaller group--Robert. His wealth of knowledge, because he had studied his own Mayan heritage, was really informative. The tour was at a reasonable pace and he showed concern for everyone--during the tour and on the 2-way bus transfer.

“Mayan ruins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Took a taxi with approx 10 other people on a guided tour of the Mayan Ruins. The taxi driver was very knowledgable and chatted the whole way there and back.very interesting.the tour was 45dollars each which includes entrance into the site.and we just spoke to agent at the port. The ruins were amazing.I climbed to the top of one of them. You need to be reasonably fit to do this.Really enjoyable and worthwhile experience. There is also the usual stalls at the end where you can buy trinkets, water, wine etc.

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We left Carnival Liberty on guided tour. The 2 tour guides, Carla and Marsha, and bus driver Howard, did a great job of explaining every site on the way, while at the ruins, and on the way back. The guides took questions about everything you can think to ask about Belize or the Mayans. Very friendly people including the tourist souvenir tents and great prices on hand-made stuff. I would recommend this tour if you want to know about the culture and history of Belize and the Mayan people.
