Turneffe Island Resort is a very nice resort. I would recommend it highly as a resort. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The food and service are excellent. The Resort has nice views and beautiful grounds, and the screened porches allow you to enjoy the beautiful setting without insects. The tiki bar was great for an après diving or fishing stop. However, the fishing was below average. It was the consensus of the fishermen staying at the Resort that the fishing (for permit and bonefish) did not meet expectations. I cannot speak for the snorkelers or the divers, but as a fisherman it lacked. There is a “no fishing from the island” policy that, although I didn’t see any tailing bonefish, troubled me in concept. Having stayed at both major fishing destinations on the Turneffe Atoll, this is not my choice for fishing.
