“A Dream Vacation!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

We just returned from Blackbird Caye Resort and Turneffe Atoll. Had a fabulous time!! Staying on the island is incredibly relaxing and we loved the solitude of our own private cabana. The diving was also just fantastic and we loved every minute of it!! The staff, Michael, Cardinal, Leo, James, Max, Jose, all the kitchen workers and cleaning workers were extremely friendly and helpful at every turn. Anything we wanted or needed they tried to accommodate us. We hope we have the chance to come back to the resort again one day.

WOW! Blackbird sets the bar high for my future expectations. We had never been snorkeling before. My husband and I spent weeks looking at sites and reading reviews before we chose Blackbird. We have been spoiled on our first snorkeling vacation. Tremendous variety of fish and coral. The accommodations were exactly what we needed! Screened porch, great hammock, and good book. Staff was awesome! Very helpful, and knowledgeable. Food was great and plentiful. Will definitely go back. Want to try scuba out next time. I find myself daydreaming about this vacation quite a bit.:) I have difficulty describing this resort and snorkeling experience in words. That's why we have over 2000 pics and videos between the 2 of us. Also met great people when we were there. Quite a few were repeat visitors. I would like to keep this place our little secret but it would be a great disservice to the guides, staff (kitchen, housekeeping, grounds keepers) and management who work very hard to provide a great experience for people who stay with them.

My first trip to Blackbird Caye was 15 years ago.
The reefs remain in pristine shape. Most dives are 2-3 minutes from the resort (minimal rockin' and rollin' in the boat). Great dive staff.
The food was the best it has ever been this trip.
Quick and easy to get to from Atlanta or Houston.
Love being able to take off shoes and not put them on until I leave.
I will be back!

Our trip to Belize started at Blackbird Caye Resort before we traveled in inland for more sightseeing. Blackbird Caye is one of the most peaceful, relaxing places I have ever been. The island is very remote, and it is really nice to be so far away from everything with no television or phones to distract you (you can still get free wifi in the bar or office if needed).

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the snorkeling trips with Chris were excellent. I would highly recommend doing the blue hole trip even if you're just a snorkeler. The blue hole itself is very nice with good snorkeling, but Half Moon Caye really made the trip worthwhile for us. I would highly recommend Blackbird Caye!

I agree with all the recent reviews and just want to add something for the scuba divers. The dive masters, Ken and Max, we're great. They were so helpful in assisting with gear and entry on and off the boat. I felt so spoiled as a diver! We have dove around the world and have over 25 years of scuba experience. The reefs around Turneffe are in excellent condition and I have never seen so many turtles and eagle rays in a week of diving. Diving is relatively easy here with minimal current and good vis. Dives at Half-moon Caye and the Elbow were the highlights.!

I traveled alone to this resort and was very happy I did. My quest for excellent snorkeling could not have been more successful. A tip from a friend led me to Turneffe and The staff at Blackbird was very accommodating. The huts all have screened in porches and that is worth alot!! The guide on the snorkel boat went above and beyond to show us different reefs and tell us about various types of fish, coral, and predators. I will go back. It is beautiful.

My husband and I went to Blackbird Caye from May 10-17 and it was perfect. Cabana #9 was lovely and not too far from the bar/restaurant. It was windy, but we didn't mind because it kept the bugs away. It rained on Friday, but it was still quite warm, so we were still out playing in the water! The staff is so friendly and everyone there is just so delightful. Our favorite was the bartender, obviously. (Hi Gilbert!!) Michael was very welcoming and made sure everyone felt right at home. We got to see the crocs at the lagoon and the iguanas and geckos running around the island. And my personal favorite - hammock naps everyday! We are not divers, and we only went on a few snorkel trips during our stay, but we chose Blackbird to 'get away from it all' and that is exactly what we did. We hope to return some day!
