“A Bargain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We stayed here 12/22-12/25. It was great- we paid only $27.50 a night per room. The rooms open on a common area, but while we stayed there (even high season) it was quiet. The rooms actually offered TV and nice beds. Very trustworthy staff. I would stay here again or recommend it to a friend.

Obviously, for the price you aren't getting luxury accommodations- it's a couple basic beds, room with a fan, and small TV (though with a ton of channels). However, there is free purified water, tons of tour books, a nice living area, and the hotel is off the main drag enough to be relatively quiet (though there is a bar/restaurant next door). I'm 28, my dad and his girlfriend (50s & 60s, respectively) were also very happy in their room. Not a hostel experience, a solid step up, but perfect for travellers on a budget.

Nice lady descent place for price honestly. What more could you ask for when looking for a bed in this tiny island. If you want luxury this is t the place. But it's sweet. And very homely. She changes sheets every day. Doesn't touch your things. She is very helpful. You meet amazing people also when handing in the common area. Internet isn't so strong but good enough to get work done. Bathrooms are pretty gross. That's honestly in a lot of places dues to poor sewage and people not installing correct pipes with freshwater. Gets noisy at night. hard to sleep if sensitive to noise. So that's why I only gave 4 stars otherwise I'd give 5.

We stayed here for 10 nights in a double ensuite and found it perfect for our needs. The room was clean and comfortable with a tv and air conditioning. I would definitely recommend paying the extra for AC as the rooms get very hot without it.

The location is great, very near the split and a short walk from pretty much everything.

The price is reasonable, its not cheap but on Caye Caulker nothing is.

I stayed here with friends. We had two twin ensuite rooms. The room was spacious, ensuite and close to everything. The owner was helpful with any requests and information. I would stay here again and recommend it to others looking for reasonably priced accommodation.

My wife and I stayed here during the end of our backpacking/wedding/honeymoon trip. The layout of this hostel is interesting, you walk into a large main room with the front desk, chairs, and fridge. The guest rooms surround the main room and are accessed from the main room, so when in your room you can hear everything that goes on in the main room. While we were here it was quiet but it was about 4 days after new years eve so everyone was perhaps partied out. There is a bar next door as well which plays music outdoors. The owner was very friendly and answered all of our questions. The room was clean and the bathroom was fine as well. It is near the man who sells shrimp and the bar at the split. Caye Caulker is small and you can walk everywhere.

All you need is a clean and quiet room when on this island, and this place has both! A great garden and very close to everything especially the split because that's where you have to go to swim. Don't miss the sunset just down the road on a nice beach. I have no complaints!

The owner was nice, but I hated the facility. There is a large common area that the rooms open up to, and each room has a window into the common area and a window facing out of the building. The common area was clean, but dingy and felt a bit like a jail.

Our room had two single beds, and the sheets were clean and changed daily. The bathroom smelled like sewer. The shower was also pretty gross. There were several mosquitos in the bathroom as well. The hotel had no cross breeze at all, and the rooms were very very hot at night. We were on a G Adventures tour that we payed a significant amount of money for, and this hotel is very inexpensive. If I was traveling on my own I probably would have hated it less, because I would not have paid an arm and a leg for it. Everyone on our tour was very disappointed by the lodging here.
