“Terrific condo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We stayed on the 2nd floor in a 2 bedroom unit and it was perfect. Great views, spacious, well equipped and a/c for cooling down in the hot weather. Bobbi, the property manager, was very helpful and nice with great advice on snorkeling outfits, grocery store, restaurants, etc. Highly recommend for family stays and the location is great - next to the split, yet away from the hustle/bustle and quiet at night.

Been meaning to share for a while. I have been visiting Caye Caulker extensively for 11 years. Caye Reef is where I try and stay every time we visit. The location is really good, close to the split and near to everything but not hectic. The gates etc provide just the right amount of security against theft. (happens) There's kitchens for cooking and pool for swimming. Ive stayed here with an extended family group and just as a couple. Both ways are great. The Management is great too. As far as Belize accommodations go, this is really a gem.

Room Tip: lower right unit has a porch with pool access, nice with kiddos. The higher rooms have awesome view...

As we've visited Caye Caulker for several years now, our stays keep getting better! First of all, Bobbi with Caye Accommodations is absolutely fantastic! She is always very helpful and attentive to the needs of her customers. The staff she employes does an outstanding job keeping Caye Reef looking beautiful and clean. CayeReef is an awesome place to stay. It's location provides easy access to both the Split and the Village, as well as, the most surreal views of the reef and Front Street. We choose to stay at one of Bobbi's rentals because we trust and know she will make our vacation the best it can be. We choose CayeReef because we haven't been disappointed yet!

Close to the split and the village. Pool. Hottub. Beach. Views every direction. Clean. Equipped with basics including toilet paper. Bottled water. Coffee maker. Air conditioning, which we were able to adjust (but not below 75degrees as requested). Housekeeping midweek. Only one complaint: rock hard beds. But the rum helps. :)

Room Tip: Units 3 and 4. 2nd floor. Fewer stairs.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay Somserby and thank you for the five star feed-back. You are not the first to mention the firm mattresses (which others love) and I will look into a solution.

We have stayed here a couple times and it has been perfect for our family. It is close enough to the split to walk easily, Bobbi is fantastic to work with, they were able to put a crib in the condo, the pool is great and the rooms are reasonable.

We appreciate how much easier it is to feed back complaints rather than praise dgrightfield. We are thus always happily surprised to hear from happy guests. Thank you, we look forward to hosting you on your next trip.

I booked this based on the reviews and was happy with my choice.

Quick summary: spacious, clean, good location, good views, professional staff

We stayed a few days here and opted for the penthouse as it wasn't too much more.

This hotel did keep emailing me a few times about picking up from the airport and sending a golf cart for me, they obviously make a commission for this or are helping out family ect. We read a review saying you have to wait for other guests for the same cost as the taxi so we made out own way and unless you have trouble with bags you may as well save a few dollars by walking. Nothing is far to walk to on Caye Caulker.

The hotel is easy to find, just walk right at the dock and keep going down the main street till you spot the tall yellow building.

The check-in was not really friendly but was very professional, a rarity in Belize where customer service is usually non existent. There was an British lady when we checked who was much friendlier.

You enter from the side of the pool and the part time reception is a small office by the front gate. We did use the pool once, we were the only ones and it was quite nice, certainly clean. A few deck chairs around too.

The penthouse was big, certainly for 2 of us. A number of sofas in the living area and also on the balcony. The kitchen had a breakfast bar and a good size fridge. We mostly ate out but was nice to keep a few beers cold. Nice view from the balcony over the pool and you can watch the kite surfers on the sea.

The bedroom had an en suite with a decent shower and the usual toiletries. What was nice was a walk in wardrobe with shelves and the safe, really useful as we had a fair bit of kit. There is a second bedroom and bathroom we didn't use, I think you get charged more to use these.

I didn't see the other rooms but other reviewers seem happy with them so I'll just mention that if you are likely to be in and out a lot, the penthouse is up a few sets of stairs so that might bother you.

The roof had loads of seating, hammocks and the jacuzzi. It was a bit windy so we didn't spend much time up here. As mentioned the Jacuzzi is not heated during the day and the only change I had to use it was about 4pm and it was a bit to cold to stay in.

The only other hotel we stayed in on Caye Caulker was the Mirimar which was like a 3rd world hostel with the classic rusty ceiling fan, broken light switches and showers. Looking around the island though, Caye Reef did look in better condition than everything else.

If I was going back, I'd certainly choose this place again.

Very minor things they could do to improve:
- heat the jacuzzi earlier, or put a heat switch on it
- erm, nothing else I can think off really

Room Tip: The penthouse was really nice and you might as well get it if you have a short stay as it is not too...

Thank you for your 5/5 review, we try hard to please and it is great when it is appreciated. Please note that no one at CayeReef has an interest in any taxi or golf cart. The invitation to help you with arrangements was just part of the service!

Experience has taught us that most guests like the hot-tub cool during the hot day and warm during the cooler evenings. We are always happy to turn on the hot-tub heater earlier on request.

We spent one week at Caye Reef Condos and had a TERRIFIC time! Bobbi and Heidi along with the other staff made the experience a great one. The whole staff was very friendly and willing to help and answer questions of any kind. The condo had everything we needed from; clothes iron, hair dryer, pots/pans, beach towels, shampoo/conditioner. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was very spacious and the balcony views were gorgeous. Caye Reef is located near the "split" where the swimming beach is and just a short 5 minute walk to the main area of town where all the restaurants and bars are located.
Ask for "Caveman" when booking snorkeling and sunset cruise tours! He's usually always hanging around Raggamuffin Tours. Also, liquor is very expensive on the island, ensure you buy your liquor at Duty Free at the Belize Airport. You will save a lot of money. Belikin beer is very cheap on the island. We brought Starbucks coffee with us and I'm glad we did, the coffee on the island is horrible. We brewed coffee every morning in the condo.

Caye Caulker = amazing
Caye Reef = amazing
We will be back and will book again at Caye Reef!

Thank you for the wonderful review Deannam81, we are really pleased you enjoyed your Caye Caulker experience with us. FYI, while imported liquor is indeed expensive, the local alternatives are very good value. We look forward to welcoming you next year.
