“Great staff and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

We stayed at Sea Dreams for two nights in an apartment. Although Sea Dreams is pricey, the staff are wonderful, breakfast is delicious and the location is perfect (5-10 min walk to most restaurants and really close to the split). The hotel offers many additional amenities…..use of bikes, a dock out on the water, hammocks on the upper deck, beach towels and snorkeling gear. The bed was comfortable, but squeaked with every move and while free WiFi is provided, it is pretty spotty.

This hotel had it all. We stayed here for a week in mid January.

AMENITIES: There isn't much missing from this hotel. The rooms have air conditioning, free WiFi, TV, coffee maker, mini fridge, iron, ceiling fan, private bathroom fully stocked with soap, shampoo and conditioner. Comfortable bed, albeit a bit noisy on the wooden frame, but still a great night sleep. You have free use of bicycles, a canoe, snorkeling gear, beach towels, and a private dock with a beautiful view of the ocean. There is free breakfast every morning, cooked by a friendly staff with great food and coffee and fresh juice.

STAFF : what more could you want. Friendly staff willing to take time to recommend things on the island and are quick to offer help with anything from booking tickets on excursions, travel, etc.

LOCATION : The hotel is located on the far northern tip of the island, right next to the split which is one of the main hangout areas. I felt the location was perfect as it was close to plenty of bars and restaurants, but was also a bit more quiet than some of the other places further into town.

We had a great time here, and the hotel was perfect for us. We would stay here again in a heart beat, and would recommend others do the same. It was a great trip and a great hotel.

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms are great, although a bit on the small side. If you need a little more space, yo...

Caye Caulker itself is far from a hard-sell destination, but it is made infinitely more pleasant when staying at a place like Sea Dreams. Less than meandering distance to the split if you're feeling social, or the small jetty if you aren't, you can take each day as it comes. The lovely roof-top breakfast and bar area is a great spot to sit and watch the world go by or you are only a short walk to all the eateries the island has to offer. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful in helping with recommendations, dive bookings or use of their facilities such as bicycles or canoes. Very, very hard place to leave….

Great hotel to stay. walking distance to everything on the island and right by the split. Great breakfast included in the morning and the bar on the roof was my favorite place to get a drink each night before we ventured out into the island to find dinner. Everyone that worked there was super kind and the rooms very clean and comfy.

Hard enough to beat the location, then you see the courtyard with the beautiful Banyan tree! It feels like your living in the tree! Then you see your room and realize how comfortable you will be for your stay...and then you meet the amazingly friendly staff who make everything so easy! Booking a day trip or snorkelling? Ask one of the front desk staff for recommendations! Need to get a cab from or to the airport? They can take care of that too! Don't forget the bar upstairs for incredible drinks! Best of all, you meet Heidi and Haywood who make sure everything is at it's very best! These are memories I will have forever, and friends I will have always.
Thank you Sea Dreams for making my vacation truly dreamy!

Room: very clean with comfortable beds, stocked mini frig and air conditioner. My daughter and I stayed in room 5 over Christmas and loved being by the Bayon tree. We also loved the hammocks upstairs.

Staff: Anna went out of her way while we were diving to find a room for us in Cayo. She also booked the air for us. She was also very pleasant and so helpful. Melanie also made us awesome drinks even though the bar was closed. The day we dove, the kitchen made us breakfast to go.

Be sure and watch the sunset off the private dock.

We will stay again once we return from Cayo.

You do hear the music from the split but it did not bother us. It might be an issue for some people.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Sea Dreams Hotel is a family-run boutique hotel on the quaint island of Caye Caulker. We are located at the north end of the village which affords a three-sided view of the Caribbean Sea. Guests quickly become part of the Sea Dreams family: eating breakfasts with Iris on our thatch-covered rooftop, picking up fishing tips from Haywood on our dock, planning excursions with Anna, Stephanie or Kelly learning about island education with Heidi, enjoying impeccable housekeeping services from Maria Elena & Melanie, or enjoying a tropical drink with Celia at our Banyan Tree Bar. Our dock, located on the leeward edge of the split, is the entry into a unique slice of paradise: perfectly clear and calm, chest-deep, turquoise water with a white sandy bottom. Every evening, guests watch the sun melt into these waters and cast pastel shades across the skies. When guests are not diving, snorkeling, fishing, kite boarding, or touring Mayan ruins, they relax at the hotel with a drink at the bar, a massage at the spa, a book in a hammock, or a canoe ride to feed the local Tarpon. Accommodations range from intimate courtyard rooms to one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, cabana, and home. Amenities include free bicycles, canoe, hot breakfast, WIFI, AC, cable TV, bottled water and snorkeling gear. ... more   less
