“Very knowledgeable guide”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2010

The wife and I signed up for the Hol Chan trip but unfortunately we were only two that signed up for that particular day as when we showed up at 10am Ash indicated he couldn't take us as he needs at least 4 people to justify the fuel cost of the 35 minute boat ride. He was gracious enough to offer to take us to another tour company and did offer the Caye Caulker Reserve snorkel trip for a much lower cost as it was only a 3 minute boat ride. He led the way when we snorkeled at the Reserve and dove down a few times to show us some of the creatures that don't like to come out like lobsters and Green Morays. He also stopped a shark ray alley and held some stingrays for us to hold and take pictures of. He made us a fruit combo for lunch and he answered all of our questions. I'd recommend him but would point out to ask him when you sign up for a trip if others have also signed up so you don't get left hanging like we did.

“Couldn't be any better !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2010

First check out the Pics.
After reading the reviews we decided to do some snorkeling through Ash for a shore excursion in Belize when our Cruise ship visited Belize City. This was by far the best decision and excursion we did on the Cruise ! We caught the first ferry to Caye Caulker which leaves the terminal at 8:00am, the terminal is a 5 minute walk from the cruise ship tender terminal which is right next to the San Pedro ferry terminal. The small passenger ferry was $10usd each or $20 in Belize money and it took us 35 minutes to get there. Caye Caulker is just like everyone describes, laid back and no vehicles which is very relaxing. We asked one of the locals where we could find the "French Angel" and he pointed us to his shop which was only about 500ft from the dock and as we walked to it he met us on his pedal bike :) The other mode of transport on the Caye is golf carts :)
Since we were on a very tight time schedule because of having to get back to our ship by 4:00pm he very quickly got us geared up with snorkel gear and headed down to the boat with our guides Rocky and Zack. It took us about 15 minutes to get out to our first snorkel spot which was just outside the marine reserve on the reef. Now the awesome part ! - I think it would be easier to say what marine life we didn't see but we did swim and touch Stingrays while Nurse Sharks and Sea turtles swam around us with every kind of tropical fish you could think of ! We stayed here for almost an hour with Rocky pointing out the different types of fish and getting us up close and personal with the Rays :) We then went into the Marine park and the main reef with rocky snorkeling with us for another hour showing us Moray eels, Grouper, Barracuda, Parrot fish and so many more i cant remember ! We then headed to a area where Rocky and Zack mentioned a fishermen sometimes cleans his catch of Conch and feeds a huge Logger Head sea turtle. As luck would have it and to cap of a perfect day he was there feeding the Turtle and so we jumped in and got to swim with a 500 pound turtle !!
What more can i say but OUTSTANDING !! Lets just say we had no problem giving Rocky and Zack a good tip !
We got back to Caye Caulker 15 minutes before the ferry left = Perfect !

“Best Tour Service in Caye Caulker, Belize.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2010

Ash is a class act. He took the time to find us on the island after we corresponded with him via email before the trip.

Our fishing trip was outstanding, a bunch of yellow snappers and 2 barracudas, which Ash later grilled for us behind his tour office. We brought the booze and veggies, and all had an excellent dinner. Here's a YouTube video of us catching a barracuda with Ash:

“Great Trip - Lots of Positives”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2010

Great trip! Wish we could have stayed a few more days.

POSITIVE:
- Great snorkeling - saw good coral, lots of fish, turtle, tarpon, etc.
- Excellent price
- Small group experience (6 total)
- Very nice staff (owner & captain)

NEGATIVE:
- Our trip was cut a bit short befcause we had to wait for another party that had not yet arrived on the island.

SPECIAL NOTE:
For this trip, we happened to be stopping in port on a cruise. The owner was incredibly sensitive to our schedule. We met him at his office a few blocks away from the dock where his boat was. He did not take us out that day because he wasn't feeling well. He made sure to tell the alternate captain to bring his cell phone with him so that he could be sure communication was possible to get us back on time. The captain dropped us off on the dock with plenty of time. While waiting on the dock for our water taxi to take us back to Belize City, we were surprised to see the owner come down to see us. He was just making sure that we were dropped off on time to catch our ferry. Very cool.

“Well done snorkel trips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2010

Did two snorkel trips through French Angel, both well done. I'm not a very good swimmer and wasn't completely comfortable, but the guide kept a close eye on me and helped when need.
