“Fantastic experience...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2010

First off let me address the review below. Anyone who travel's to Belize, or any 3rd world country should know NOT to drink the water. I personally have and suffered no ill effects, but not advisable. There is some construction going on, but nothing that would disturb sleep or even relaxation. The beds are Serta in most units...The entire staff of reef village is fantastic, welcoming, and treat you like family. The restaurant has some of the best food on the island and the bar is well stocked with plenty of booze and very entertaining bartenders. Ivan and Barry are the BEST! This is my 3rd time back to Reef Village and will return again and again!

We purchased a 1 bedroom in November 09 at the reef and came this year to use our week. I had requested a 2 bedroom if available and the reservation team acknowledged through emails that this was possible. When we arrived we were greeted by the "Resort Hostess" who made up a story about how happy she was to meet us and that she was upgrading us to a 2-bedroom. She appartenly didn't look at our reservations. She told us our room wasn't ready and to have a drink and lunch on the resort. Nice touch. Our room was nice and had everything we needed except the safe was sitting on the floor and not attached to anything.

The Hostess asked us to join her for breakfast so she could inform us of all there is to do in San Pedro since it was our first time there. Well we informed her of the safe issue and she said she would take care of it. Well, soon after informing her of this and listening to her contradicting statements regarding our purchase, she took out a piece of paper and tried to sell us an upgrade. We just purchased 4 months earlier and were not even in the resort more than 18 hours and we were already getting the hard sell. We said we were all set and didn't need the upgrade.

She never gave us the intro to San Pedro, never fixed our safe, the sales staff never spoke to us for the rest of the trip. The sales staff is American and their customer service was terrible. In fact we would have upgraded had we been treated a little better.

The belizian staff at the hotel is great. They are a perfect resource for any question you may have regarding food, shopping, and tours. Almira in reservations is great. She was very helpful and Mario will help you with anything (even when your golf-cart doesn't start), Ivan at the bar makes a great motito (sp?).

When we bought at the Reef we didn't have high expectations in the sales staff however the resort is in a great place for a home base and is clean and nice. However, we understand that the Reef is in business to make money and selling is how they accomplish this, we just didn't expect it to be in such bad taste and with poor customer service.

The Reef Village Resort was great. Off the beaten path yet close to town and Legends Burger House and the Jolly Roger Bar and Hamilton's Restaurant. Anyone looking for a snorkeling or fishing trip should contact Carlos Franco of Franco Tours. Carlos can be reached at [--]. No hurries no worries!

My wife and I just returned from a week at reef village, we had a wonderfull time. The staff were more than accomadating and very friendly. Our condo was a beautiful two bedroom on the third floor, it was very clean and had a large balcony with an ocean view.
The Palms resturant was very good and the pool and bar area had a relaxingly fun atmosfere. The grounds were kept clean.
We have nothing but positive things to say about our trip. It was wonderful!

The reef village resort is a great place to stay, I had a wonderful time there. The people at the resort are very friendly and easy to get along with. I love there Bar, awesome place to relax and have drinks, and chill by the pool and the bar tender there ( Ivan) is so nice and funny!! and my i add very good lookin lol... I'm really gonna miss his:-( and he makes the best drinks ever!! the Blue Hole is very good!
the down side is that the resort is on the other side of the toll bridge so everytime you pass over the bridge its 5 buck one way for a golf cart. if pass over at night its free so if you like the night life thats the time to cross.
And other then that San Pedro is a wonderful place, that tours around town you never now what you might come across!! and if you feel like a long drive to a nice little bar down south, go for a drive and find the rustafarian bar, is a nice place to go swimming and see the sun set!!
