Very very good value. Rooms (suite) were fantastic. Nice and quite. Some may not like that. It is removed from all the activity of Ambergris but we didn't mind when all was said and done. Rene in the office was fantastic. Booked trips, made arrangements, arranged transportation etc. Best multitasker I have seen in years. Lupe was very helpful in the dive shop. She went out of her way to arrange a snorkeling trip that was even better than our dives. I wouldn't book a dive with any one else. I wish we had known the suite had a full kitchen as there is no where close to pick up food stuffs. Major 4 star restaurants provided free boat transportation on occasion. Food at Legacy was quite good.

“Very Nice”

The resort was very nice. One of the advantages -- for us -- was that it was secluded, isolated and the staff was great. We were able to leave our elementary school age kids playing on the beach will we went inside our unit to get another book or fix a drink. When we went into San Pedro and walked around we agreed that we could NOT have done this with the hotels in that area. That part of town was just more public with lots of people walking around and past the hotels.

That said, a disadvantage was that we were far from restaurants. The resort has a restaurant which was okay, but expensive for what it was. Like $50 for breakfast for 2 adults and 2 young kids. And $80 for dinner for two adults. A burger at the beach-front bar was $15 (including tax/tip). We bought groceries (expensive) in town and fixed some cereal and sandwiches in our room.

The facility was very clean and new feeling. I was impressed, it was nicer than I was expecting. Fresh beach towels were available every day. The sea grass was raked off the beach. The lounge chairs and umbrellas were ready by 7am each morning. The unit itself was great! The kids slept on the futon sofa bed, which works well for younger/small kids.

The kids loved the pool even though it was a little greenish and not clear while we were there. They were working on the problem.

The resort is currently building more units in 'the back' which although very close to the beach -- seem much further away than all the other units. I would recommend staying in the beach-front units.

The resort provides a free shuttle into town twice a day (via boat). And back to the resort 3 - 4 hours later. We found this was too much time in San Pedro for us. And because the last shuttle left town at 6:30, it did not allow for going out to dinner because most restaurants don't open until at least 5:30. It's about a 20 min ride into town. You can always pay for a water taxi or the Island Ferry to go too.

“Wow! The Legacy was our platform for a great vacation!”

We stayed at the Legacy for ten days in early April of '08. After I had booked the resort, I began to second guess myself because it was "so far north of San Pedro." I'm glad we stayed here and being outside of town was just what we wanted and not a bit of trouble at all.

The resort itself is sparkling clean. Grounds and units are very well maintained. The employees are so nice, so friendly and so helpful, you cant help but get to know them!

We're beach people and you get a really nice beach at this resort. We took the resort's kayaks out to the reef three times and snorkled on our own out there. It gets really shallow again, even thought you're about 1/2 mile from shore. We just used the tie up rope and dragged the boat behind us.

We also borrowed a pair of the resort's bikes and cycled to town and back. That was a haul and was a bit too much like work for me! We went to town via the resort's water shuttle lots of times...it goes into town about four times a day and comes back about three. We never felt 'stranded.'

The food was excellent. The service was fabulous. It was more expensive to eat there than it was at some of the places in town.

Our room was great. Every unit has a huge front porch or deck that are great for ending the day on. The kitchens are equipped with all of the basics. I loved the bathroom with the raised bowl sink and huge shower. My husband loved the two separate airconditioning units, one in the bedroom and one in the living area. We never slept on vacation so well!

Phase II of the Legacy was under construction while we were there. We heard that there will be 17 more units constructed, with another bar area, a gift/supply shop and another pool. The one thing we really missed was having access to a workout facility...be nice if they could incorporate one of those too.

Be sure to look up Armando, Diego, Maria, Rene, Rick and Edgar. There's also a resort pet, Rojo, a sweet dog who will wiggle his way under your beach chair and quite possibly your heart!

“Very Nice, Quiet, Secluded”

Belize Legacy Beach Resort

Mar 25, 2008

We stayed two nights at the Belize Legacy over the Easter break. There were two families in our group and we reserved the two bedroom pool/sea view. The accommodations were roomy and we enjoyed having adjoining rooms with mini-kitchens.

This resort is a considerable distance from town and we really enjoyed the quiet. They planned really fun activities for the kids on Easter including a traditional Easter egg hunt, kayak races, volleyball, and a beach barbecue.

The restaurant on site prepared delicious food (loved the ceviche), buy it was pretty expensive. If we return, we will definitely bring some food to prepare a few meals in the mini-kitchen (stove top, refrigerator, sink, microwave, dishes, pots/pans, utensils).

“Belize Legacy is great!!!”

Belize Legacy Beach Resort

Mar 17, 2008

We Stayed at the Legacy and it is a real great Hotel.
Its far away from the others and that was fine with us!
The kids were safe, the food was OK, the drinks were better and the staff was really friendly. If your going to Ambergris this is the place to be ( I checked ) We kayaked to the reef every day to snorkel. Mexico rocks is a paddle away and the resort shuttles you into town on regular schedules.

Make sure to look up Emmo, the best bartender I've seen in a while.
