“We loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

This place was very nice - we were greeted by Coreene and we were offered a welcome drink from the bar where we met Ruthie and Helen. We then toured the area and rented a golf cart for the week. the room was top shelf and we had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a great balcony where we spent lots of time looking at the ocean. Enrique and Coreene set up numerous tours for us which were all great.
If I had to think of something negative it would be that the food service was sometimes a bit slow - so order before you are starving - and one day the water pressure was really low.
I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to visit the area.
We decided that this is like the island version of the TV show Cheers cause everyone knows your name. Do not hesitate to book with this resort.

Room Tip: We were in room 11 and it was very nice

Kind, courteous, helpful staff, great location! Absolutely beautiful! It's on the southern part of Ambergris, but a fun golf cart ride into the "city" :) of San Pedro! We shared a 3 bedroom condo that was gorgeous. We are divers and wished we could have had more time on the property. Everything was top-notch! Highly recommend. You can walk the beach, you can even ride bikes on the beach. My wife and I rode halfway into town on the beach. You have to get off and walk a few times, but it was very enjoyable and memorable. They have a small pool which is nice and deep, perfect for cooling off and relaxing. Bugs weren't an issue for us. Paddle boards are great, but not on windy days. The kayaks are a nice way to get out on the water.

Room Tip: Get #12 and share with friends, flip for the upstairs suite, it has a jacuzzi and excellent views. J...

|First you are treated like gold. The people that live here are so nice, no one bothers you trying to sell stuff, everyone very helpful letting us know where to buy fresh fish, and local eating stops. We rented a beautiful two bedroom on the beach, nothing better than waking up and looking out at the clear aqua water. Breakfast is included and they have a nice menu. Bikes and kayaks are included, we had a blast kayaking out to the reef, and biking in to the produce stand, bakery and lunch at Robins. You swim off the dock, unlike walking into the water, swallow and grass for the turtles you will see, along with the rays and many varieties of fish. We will go back.

Room Tip: cant go wrong with any room, 24 units all great.

Last day of our stay here at Pelican Reef. The staff is amazing and the villas are very nice. Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap are stocked well. Unit 19 has pros and cons... Ground floor with nice ocean view across the pool area. Easy access to pool area and beach. Although not a swimming beach, nice for a walk. A bit noisy with the close access to the pool area and bar (until about 10pm). This unit also backs up to the driveway so when people come and go, it can be noisy. A/C is very loud, like a big truck coming thru... Lol... We like to keep windows open and skip the a/c, but being in such as accessible place with mainly sliding doors, we weren't comfortable doing that. About 3 miles from town... we walked the beach one day. It's a nice walk with a cool breeze. With no breeze it might be too hot. If you don't want to walk, you can rent a golf cart or get a taxi for $12.50 one way. Not much to do otherwise. Many excursions will pick you up from the dock and take you to town. Overall great trip!

I have traveled to quite a few places and Pelican Reef has been the best stay I have ever had. My husband and I never wanted to leave. The service is the best part of this hotel. I swear they take care of your need before you even realize you needed something. They booked all of our tours, rented us a golf cart, and made all of reservations for dinner. Someone from the staff was around 24/7 to help us with a smile on their face whether we had a question or wanted a drink. Ruth, Ruth, and Enrique are fabulous. We felt like we never had to lift a finger around them! Our last night there our flights home got cancelled and the owner went above and beyond to make sure we got the help we needed to get home. He even checked in with us the next morning to make sure everything was good.

The hotel is about 2 miles south of San Pedro which we really preferred. The hotels closer to town seemed crowded and not as nice. One of our favorite parts was renting a golf cart and traveling into town for lunch or dinner. The beach was clean and beautiful and there was always places to lay out. The pool had a swim up bar which we loved to use to eat lunch or have a drink. Our room was very clean and spacious. It also had a washer and dryer which was very convenient. The only complaint we had is that we couldn’t stay longer! We cannot wait to come back.

Pelican reef was beautiful, clean, and relaxing. The staff were amazing. They made sure you had everything you needed. Ruth was wonderful. She always has a smile on her face. Greg and Enrique were so helpful and made sure our stay was everything we expected. I can't say enough about how friendly everyone was. Our condo was beautifully furnished . The kitchen was fully equipped. We had a ground floor ocean view. We were very spoiled while we were there! We will definitely be back!!!

My husband and I just returned from a 10 day vacation on Ambergris Caye. We loved every minute of the vacation and can't wait to return. The stay at Pelican Reef was excellent. The rooms were top notch as was the staff. Ruth, Ruthie, and Enrique were excellent hosts and made our stay that much more welcoming. The resort is very well kept and it is easy to relax the instant you arrive. It was unfortunate they do not have a restaurant open for dinner but there are lots of excellent options in town. We will definitely return and have already recommended Pelican Reef to our friends and family looking for their next destination.
