“Incredible views, relaxing location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Caye Casa is the perfect balance between relaxation and location. A five minute walk to the heart of the island, this is a beautiful location that is a bit quieter than most of the big hotels on the island. This is not a spot to rage, let's be clear. Lots of families and couples stay here. We went out to the bars most nights, but looked forward to coming back to a quiet and relaxing hotel. There are lawn chairs in front of the hotel, perfect for an early morning sunrise or afternoon drink. The rooms are also the nicest we encountered on this trip: very up-to-date bathroom, air conditioning, coffee maker, fridge. Our room was located right next to the reception, which I thought would be loud or disruptive, but so was so pleased to find that it was quiet. This was by far my favorite hotel of the trip, wish we stayed longer than two days. We will definitely be back on our next trip!

Caye Casa is up the beach from the main area of activity nearer the city park, which makes it much quieter and more intimate. Very little traffic (either car/cart or pedestrian) in front of the hotel which is essentially right on the beach. The hotel has an assortment of rooms, from single rooms to "villas" with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and a kitchen. We stayed in the smallest of their rooms, the "Classic" which was completely adequate for us. Immaculately clean room, helpful staff, daily maid service, friendly dogs. A quick walk down the beach to dive shops, water taxis, restaurants, grocery stores.

I would have to agree with all the great reviews about this Caye Casa. This place really did feel like home, we loved everything about waking up to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The staff are amazing! Boxter , aka "captain" will get you great deals on the Golf carts, snorkelling, places to eat, cheaper beer, anything you want! The front desk is so friendly. We are really going to miss this place, especially "reef", and "Caulker" . We met some great people in Belize. Will definitely be back!

I loved Caye Casa from the moment we pulled up! It was stunning & in the most perfect location. We stayed in the Lime Casita & friends were in the Sand Caye Casita. It was nice being right next door to each other to be able to hang out on the porch, being close, but not on top of each other. The rooms were very spacious. Nice extras were the coffee maker (with coffee) & the 5 gallon purified water jug. Some others have complained about the lack of privacy with the Lime Casita. We didn't find this to be a problem. We just kept the side bedroom blinds closed. Problem solved. Julie was a really nice woman who would stop to chat when walking by. Shane was an exceptional employee. He was always friendly & eager to help in any way or to offer up suggestions on where to go or what to do. We went on a great half day snorkeling trip with Captain Boxter to Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley. He was great! I wouldn't bother checking elsewhere. We enjoyed spending our time @ Caye Casa lounging on our decks, cooling down in the pool, simming in the ocean out front, chilling on the pier & chilling or playing with Reef & Caulker. A couple other suggestions if you are fortunate enough to stay @ Caye Casa
1) Massage with Shirlene on the beach! $35 for an hour+ head to toe massage & it was AMAZING!
2) Golf cart rental from Cholo's- $200BZD FOR 48 hours
3) Go to Neri's for stuffed fry jacks & burritos (3 for $1BZD) DELICIOUS! Any local cab driver can tell you where it is. VERY busy.
4) Bo see Alaina @ Bo's (small place across from Pan Dulce Bakery) Delicious food, cheap & such a sweet lady
5) Enjoy every moment because it's over before you know it!
Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us Julie! You have a great place, great staff, great dogs & WE WILL BE BACK! I don't think this place can be improved upon. It's that good!

Friends and family rented several of the rooms at Caye Casa in January for a family wedding. The location and rooms were perfect. Julie and her staff did everything possible to make our stay special. Julie even helped us plan a lovely pre- wedding party at Caye Casa. I couldn't have hoped for anything better. My gratitude to all and I look forward to visiting again. It is truly a tropical paradise.

very nice condo (#3). If you are sure you really want to visit Belize and stay in San Pedro, this is a good place to stay. The staff was helpful and friendly. And the thatched roof verandas are nice for reading. Our condo had morning sun so choose another condo if you want to hang out early.

A lot of the hotels have no direct beach access (including the beautiful Pelican Reef); Caye Casa has beach access. All of the hotels on Ambergris Caye have sea grass, and the sea floor is mucky so the water is not all that inviting anyway. Caye Casa is a little walk to the center of town which is nice.

We had a great fly fishing trip with Omar - caught many bone fish. He is very helpful. Take your own equipment and be sure the fly line blends in with the water.

We visited the Lamanai ruins with Seduced by Belize. The guides were knowledgeable and provided a breakfast of banana bread with watermelon and pineapple and a very nice lunch. It is a very long day with a one hour boat ride, then a one hour bus trip (air conditioned, thankfully) and then another boat ride through the jungle. We were suppose to see crocodiles, monkeys and toucans. We only saw 3 howler monkeys, but then since we weren't in a zoo we couldn't really be guaranteed to see a lot of wildlife. No bug problems. The ruins were nice.

We also went snorkeling with Searious adventures. That was the best! Our guides took us to the usual sites and we certainly were not alone, but they also prolonged our trip by taking us to the area where fishermen were cleaning their fish. We had the area to ourselves. Fantastic!

I didn't realize the Blue Hole was a 2 hour boat ride from San Pedro. We didn't make it there. It might be better to fly over it to gain a true appreciation for it unless you plan to scuba dive.

Eating: lots of good grilled snapper and grouper. Shrimp is not great since it is not locally caught. We ate at Fido's, Blue water Grill (MUST try the key lime pie), and Wild Mango. Wet Willey's is a nice place for lunch. Good pulled pork sandwiches and it has a beautiful location directly over the water.

Back to Belize itself. If you are looking for a real caribbean island where the hotels are mixed in with the "homes" where the native people live, and you don't mind having pitt bulls roaming freely
then Belize is for you! Don't look for beautiful people or drinks to be served on the beach. It is mainly a place for people who want to hang out, be active or not.

Caye Casa does not really have much of a pool- more like a big bathtub, but most of the other hotels don't either. If a pool is important, choose the "Pelican Reef." If you want to hang out, this place is very nice.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights in March last year and loved this place. We were greeted with lovely staff - available when you need them and up for conversation if you want it. They were always helpful regarding the accommodations and recommendations for restaurants as well as inquiry for excursions. We stayed in one of the beachfront "casitas" - perfect for 2 for a mid-length stay. Spacious, clean, flavorful decor. Not the most private though there are blinds for every window and door and it is never loud, so not a problem for us. Salty breeze and view makes you want to leave the french doors open all the time (the lovely dogs may just walk in to check on you!). Or just chill on the patio or go out to the dock. We did a half-day snorkel trip with Capt. Boxter to Hol Chan and Shark/Ray Alley - so easy, relaxing, and fun to go by ourselves. The hotel is a nice location into town but far enough away to feel relaxed. Wish I was there now.
