“Quiet, comfortable, very clean”

Royal Caribbean Resort

We were originally booked at a hotel on the beach in town and after spending one miserable night listening to the town's loud music and endlessly barking dogs, we gratefully moved to the RCR. Each cabana has a spacious living area with a small kitchenette (just microwave and fridge). The air conditioning was appreciated (the constant trade winds on the beach can be very tiring) and the bed was very comfortable. Having purified water running from the taps was a surprizing plus. The restaurant nearby was overpriced, so we walked to town for meals. It's about a 25 minute walk along the beach. It's good to carry a flashlight at night because the south end of the island is quieter and darker. The RCR has its own pier and the snorkeling/dive boats can pick you up and drop you off there. This is a good place for people who like to do things on their own and don't need coddling, although the office staff ordered taxis for us whenever we wanted. They also offer free internet use on a machine in the office building.

Royal Carribean resort is affordable and intimate. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is a bit remote but provides for a private setting. The resort staff can schedule many excursions to Mayan ruins and diving/snorkeling trips leaving from their private dock. The cabanas are generous in size but only sleep up to 3. Nice pool and quiet beach.

This was our second stay @ the RCR. We enjoyed our first stay there tremendously (June 2006). So.. when we became engaged this October we decided that perfect place to get married would be the Royal Caribbean!! We contacted the resort directly and worked with Jennifer. She was terrific at managing & helping everyone with travel questions & reservations. We cannot even begin to explain how wonderful everyone is at RCR. We had 38 family members staying at RCR. Nando Trejo the GM is a GEM... truly a jack of all trades, coffee maker, reservation maker, taxi driver, comedian, drum player, beauty assistant, floral consultant and a wonderful friend. Nick was excellent in helping all of the guests we had @ RCR - all done with a great sense of humor! Armando kept the place looking beautiful! He patched the holes in the floaties & even cleaned the beach 3X on the wedding day!! The girls even did our laundry for us and pressed our fancy clothes. Every guest with us was amazed at the attention to our family. RCR made it beautiful and easy. We would go back in a second!! THANK YOU JENNIFER & NANDO!

The place is a little low on fancy hotel atmosphere, but the cabanas are roomy and well-appointed and the beachfront is relatively long. It's a little far from the town, but that helps keep it quiet. The restaurant there is OK -- not cheap but with prices comparable to what you normally find in town. Most often we biked in to eat and a couple of times improvised a meal with the microwave in the kitchenette. There are also some restaurants at beach hotels closer into town that you can walk to easily. The staff is informal and friendly; we were happy with the tours they booked for us. The manager was more helpful than he needed to be when I wanted to deal with an unanticipated business matter that came up. There is also a computer in the office for guests to check their e-mail. Fine for a peaceful getaway.

This resort is not fancy and full of amenities, but it is absolutely fine. Cute, clean cabanas right on the beach, wonderful pool, extremely friendly and accomodating staff. Good location...easy walking distance to town (San Pedro), yet far enough away to relax.
