“Perfect tropical retreat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We just returned from our third trip to Belize and our third stay at The Palms. We keep returning to The Palms because it is a perfect location (quick walk to the airport and San Pedro town, and right on the beach), it is quiet, it is extremely comfortable, has a gorgeous pool surrounded by tropical trees and plants, and the grounds are well maintained by a caring, genuinely friendly staff. We have stayed in 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units here -- each one has its own decor, but they share amenities like AC, ceiling fans, drinking water, and kitchen with full size fridge/freezer, oven/stove, microwave, and coffee maker.

Favorite memory: Spending each morning with a cup of coffee and a book on our ocean-view balcony, listening to the sounds of the beach starting its day, with the wind rustling the palm fronds overhead. It sounds like a freakin' travel brochure, but it's real!

Getting out and about: The hotel has several bikes that you can borrow to explore the island (perfect for riding up and down the beach), and the staff are happy to arrange snorkeling / diving excursions for you. We went on the Bacalar Chico tour and it was fantastic! We saw manatees and dolphins before our first snorkeling stop. And the beach BBQ was delicious. A fun time all around

Local food and drink picks: Make sure to try Wild Mango's (a few minutes' walk up the beach) for lunch or dinner. Also, bring home a bottle of the local rum (1-Barrel Rum) so you can pretend you're back in Belize until you get back for real.

Our first time to Belize... Excellent choice for a family travel destination! We stayed 11 nights in two different beautiful suites with our new family, Melinda, Ana, Lena, Santiago (my twin), Roberto, Toby and the wonderful cleaning staff! The suites were spotless, and had all the amenities anyone could ever ask for...new or updated appliances (including a coffee maker), drinking water, beach towels, information book, restaurant discount card, etc..
The yard area was immaculate with beautiful tropical vegetation, the pool was clean and very refreshing, the beds were the best we had ever slept in (we like them large and firm), the bathrooms were excellent! We could go on and on about the accommodations, they were outstanding, but the most important and memorable part of our trip were the people who work at the Palms, they were the best - both professional and personal!!! They always had smiles, organized our domestic flights, helped us to organize cart rentals, gave us advice...were all very knowledgable and wonderful. Each of them had time to chat, even with their busy days. We will be back one day and without doubt will stay at the Palms with our new family and friends! We already miss them! The Wolds from a different world!

As you can see by the other reviews, this place has everything you need. We just returned Jan. 19, 2013. The staff was great with providing any information we needed. They brought beer to our room (24 10oz bottles of Belikin). You can use the beach in front of Ramon's, if needed, and their restaurant. The Palm's also gives you a 10% discount card that is good for about 7 restaurants. The pool area is great (they have lounge chairs and towels)...perfect landscaping, and clean. We were able to walk everywhere in town...short walk all over town. Great view (we had room 22). We cooked breakfast and fixed lunches in the kitchen suite (has eveything you need to cook and eat/drink with) and ate out every night...so the kitchen saved us a lot of money. The beds are a bit on the stiff side, if you sleep on your side, but they are good, in any case. They gave us six pillows, which we were glad to have. The furniture is great...TV even in the bedreoom and a DVD player in the living room, and a bar with chairs in the kitchen. Wireless box is in the suite...each suite has its own...very cool. The AC works great...just make sure you set the temp to 25C. Ceiling fans in all rooms. Dimming lights. Microwave, toaster, coffee maker...has everything. You can borrow DVDs from the office for free. Books were stocked in the suite, if you want to read. Dining table with four chairs. They will pick you up at the water taxi for free. Make sure you clean up after yourself, because there is a small ant (large and very small ants) problem. Also, they use standard brooms, not a thick dusting type broom, so there is still some sand on the floor everywhere, so they need to change the way they clean the floors because of the sand that gets through their brooms. Overall, a great place and great value.

Room Tip: Room 22 is probably the best for a couple.

My wife and I recently left Colorado and 15 degree weather and 5 inches of snow for Ambergris Caye. We had never been to Belize and after reading many reviews on TA and checking availability during Christmas, we chose the Palms Oceanfront Suites.

We stayed 10 days in unit # 12 ground level. We were a little concerned about security and having a view being on the ground floor.
How lucky we were, the palms has 24 hour security and Toby, Santiago and Roberto were always around throughout the day and night keeping an eye on everything.
The view was outstanding, every morning we had coffee on the veranda.
We met a nice couple and two great families which we shared the beach, lounge chairs, and patios at times. We have since become great friends and look forward to traveling with them in the future.

Now, about the Palms, first off there is no Bar or Restaurant. Whoever is staying here is the only people you see, no outside traffic, no strangers.

The front desk of Ana, Lina and Melinda are there for your every need. They made dinner reservations, found times for Christmas mass, arranged tours and a great fishing trip for us.
They even let me use their internet to print boarding passes and most of all were all so friendly they made us feel right at home.
They also provide bikes for us to tool around the island, towels every day, laundry service which we used for a small fee and bottled water.

Roberto became a dear friend, he picked us up at the airport in a golf cart and was always there for us if we needed anything.
We eached packed carry-on so 1/2 way through the trip we had the Palms do some laundry. We dropped tees, shorts and other off at 9:00 and when we returned at 2:30 all was done and in our room. This for only $ 20.00 USA (how nice and convienent). When we had housekeeping, Neila came in and took care of everything. The rooms were spotless, the dishes and towels were clean and the floor was sandless. The room was very comfortable with 2 T.V's, nice appliances, great furnishings especially a comfortable bed and good water pressure.

We really had a tough time leaving. After getting to know all the staff, we found they were like one big family. They had all been working there for 8 years or longer. They really loved where they worked and it showed.

We were there ten days and already miss all of them. We hope we can get back next year and stay with our new Belizian family.

This is our fourth time staying at the Palms. These are small condos but located right by the airport and the little town. Easy enough to walk to the store, town, or Ramon's next door. This is not high end, but good enough, clean, AC works, hot water is hot so all is good. Great views and great stay make it very nice. Being a condo, you have a little kitchen which is cool for coffee or eating small meals. Ramons is right next door so you can set up a tab and use their facilities for food and drinks on the beach. Cannot go wrong on this one.

Room Tip: Top floor are better for the view. 32 and 33. 31 and 34 are nice but view is obstructed by the gia...

This was our 2nd consecutive trip to Ambergris Caye. Last year, we stayed at Ramon's but decided we needed more room since traveling with 2 teenagers

We stayed in room 14. Ground floor, 2 bedroom & 1.5 bath. It was perfect for us. We loved being able to open up sliding doors & stepping outside to the sunshine & ocean view.

The staff are wonderful & very helpful.
Perfect location to walk to everything.
We hope to return next year.
