Wonderful condo resort. Meticulously maintained. Wonderful staff. Willing to help with anything you ask for. Convenient to little grocery stores. We walked all over the island. We used the bikes alot. Unfortunately windy condtions on several days, we were not able to use the kyaks. Great intertnet service all over the resort. We had no problems. Loved the beer and soda sales at great prices from the front desk/service desk. Beautiful little pool with great pool side loungers. We rented the 3 bedroom 3 bath condo and rooms were great and very private.

The resort is so beautiful and it far exceeded all of our expectations. Our arrival started with a smile as we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff and a cool tropical drink. That set the tone for a wonderful stay. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The pool is surrounded by lush landscaping and is a few steps from the ocean. Xanadu is close enough to walk to the town's center, but removed just enough from the hustle and bustle to feel like it's not located in a tourist town. Best of all is the staff. You can tell the employees want guests to have a good time and that they take pride in their resort. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Xanadu. I strongly recommend it.

We stayed at Xanadu over Christmas, 2009. Our experience was nothing short of fantastic. We came to Ambergris Caye from the Cayo district where our hotel was a bit more rustic (to say the least!) and we had all come down with food poisoning- so we were not in the best spirits on our arrival. The ease of the flight (booked by Xanadu staff), the complimentary taxi waiting for us at the terminal, and the friendly faces at the front desk had us soon feeling better. It only improved when we were shown to our room. It was immaculately clean, cool, spacious, and well-appointed. Though we had a "garden view" room, we actually had a lovely view of the sea and pool in addition to the beautiful garden.

Three supermarkets were literally steps from the property enterance. I've seen others mention that they wish Xanadu were closer in to town, or that it had a bar/restaurant. I'd have to disagree. It only takes minutes to get anywhere you could wish to go, but not having the bar/restaurant crowd on site makes the resort feel peaceful and secluded. Plus, the office (right by the pool) sells beer, soda, and water if you don't want to get it from your room or a neighboring bar.

The staff is the icing on the cake at this amazing property. Blanca, Ingrid and Lorena are such lovely and kind people. And you couldn't feel more secure with Orlando around watching over things. The staff handled dinner reservations, transportation, tours, and any other requests seamlessly (even having a "no problem" response to last minute requests). I hope we have an opportunity to go back soon- I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else!

The most relaxing, restfull place. The people were great, the resort was beautiful and clean. I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else. We loved the hospitality and the views. We will return.

Can't say enough about how great this place is. The rooms are spacious and clean with comfy beds and well equipped kitchens. The grounds are beautiful, with waving palms and an inviting pool and comfortable beach chairs. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. We booked a trip to Lamanai (a must do, as far as we're concerned) independently of the hotel on a recommendation from my parents, and Ingrid called and checked on all the arrangements, just to make sure everything would go smoothly. My parents also stayed here and had the same (wonderful) experience. It's more like staying with friends than staying on a commercial property. Transfers from the airport were arranged seamlessly in advance. Quiet location away from the bars and restaurants, but still within easy strolling distance.

My husband and I stayed at Xanadu for our honeymoon November of 2009. We researched resorts for weeks and with Xanadu we made an excellent choice. The transition of flights and transportation to the hotel were flawless. We arrived to the well manicured resort and met Lorena's smiling face at the front desk. She booked every one of our adventures, and talked us through our options as it was slower season and not all were available. She couldn't have been more helpful throughout our entire stay. I will say there was a small snafu with our room. We had booked suite number two, (room with the best view) but it had accidentally been rented out the night before. We were in suite number three (second best view) which was a bummer but was soon forgotten. So just a heads up, if you have a preference for room to confirm it the week or so before.
Overall, our stay was fabulous! The rooms were extremely comfortable, clean and well kept and the ihome and internet were a real bonus! We had maid service everyday and the room was stocked with necessities upon arrival. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook full meals. There were grocery stores in walking distance. I will say it would be awesome to have a restaurant or bar on site. The grounds were impeccably clean and the sand raked every morning. Orlando, the groundskeeper, was really cool. He was beyond friendly and talked to us for a while about his culture and gave us some local tips. He was so happy to share his knowledge with us and we really appreciated that he did, it really added to our experience.
My husband and I walked into town along the beach every night for dinner which was about a mile or so. That was nice, but after a couple nights it was a bit of a walk, and that was only making it to the two most popular restaurants in town, The Blue Water Grill and Mangoes, which was the best ever!! Go to Mangoes, you'll be happy you did. There is an excellent restaurant right next door to Xanadu. I can't remember the name, but we had one of our best meals on their deck eating seafood under the stars.
Some tips? Dive with Ecologic, they are awesome!! We made an extra effort to dive with them as much as we could. They were clean, professional, safe AND they take pics underwater and post them on their site for you. We had never been to Belize and we considered staying North of the cut. Don't do that if you want to be part of the action. It's really quiet up there and perfect for seclusion if that's what you are looking for. Xanadu was great because the resort was quiet and felt secluded while still walking/biking distance from town. Also, don't stay too close to town, it can be really noisy.
Xanadu has an excellent location, absolutely beautiful property and clean comfortable rooms. We can't say enough about the staff. They really want to take care of you and are proud of their resort. Two giant thumbs up for Xanadu. Can't wait to go back!!

My wife, 7 month old baby boy and I stayed there for 8 days in January 2010. We absolutely loved staying there. The setting is absolutely perfect with a beautiful pool surrounded with lush vegetation, flowers, palm trees, ocean views and even a friendly iguana that came out of hiding every afternoon to sun near the pool. There are plenty of loung chairs for everyone as well as a hammock. It is very quiet and peaceful and a fabulous resort to go for relaxation. What makes this resort extra special though is the staff (as funny as that sounds). I travel alot and usually find just adequate customer service whereever I go (especially in the US), but the Xanadu Resort Staff practice nothing short of customer service excellence...honestly. It is not fake at all, they genuinely care about your experience there and take pride in doing their best to make your stay there all that it can be. They are all truly wonderful, beautiful people and it was a pleasure getting to know them all. Even the owner/GM (Ivan I think his name was?) asked us very specific questions regarding our tours, snorkeling, restaurants and he even asked if the bug bites on our son's face were clearing up yet. Everyone there truly cares about you and your vacation experience on their beautiful island. We will be back again someday.

Island recommendations: Restaurants...George's Kitchen for breakfast, Wild Mango's for dinner, Elsie's for lunch/dinner/drinks, The Sunset Grill, Hidden Treasure, Fido's bar for lunch, appetizers and great bloody mary's.

Definately go snorkeling with Alphonse at Hol Chan...He is a great guy, knows his marine life and is a great storyteller as well.

If you go on the Lamani Tour, spend the extra money to fly over to the mainland...you will thank me later and the flight over there is absolutely breathtaking!! Plus you get back to the island by 2:30 so you still have the rest of the day to relax.

Also...spend a day over on Caye Caulker as well...very relaxed island...we loved it there.

So in closing, I highly, highly recommend staying at Xanadu Island Resort and we will definately be back someday. You will not regret going there!

Thank you Ingrid, Lorena and the rest of the Xanadu Staff!!!!!!
