My husband and I stayed in a casita for three nights while attending a friend's wedding. The photos on the website did not do this place justice. It is beautiful. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the grounds are immaculate, the pools were never crowded, and the food here was amazing. There are comfortable one and two person hammocks all over the beach and on the patio of each castia as well. All five couples we traveled with ate here one night, and all of us very very impressed with our meals. Most of the time I had the entire infinity pool to myself. The front desk is incredibly helpful. One tip- if you are planning on doing a lot of activities outside of the resort, try to book a less expensive room. We stayed in a casita and felt it was a bit of a waste of money because we were on the go a lot. I cannot say enough about how much we loved this place, though, and cannot wait to return!

  • Liked — great food, comfy beds, great staff, beautiful grounds
  • Disliked — dive shop was overpriced

We stayed here for our honeymoon and we loved it. We had a great room with a lovely private balcony. The staff is great - mainly because we didn't see them at all! The beach is very pretty, the bar is great and the restaurant a tad over-rated but good. A really, really nice place to stay on Ambergise Caye.

We spent 3 nights at Victoria House, booked through the Dos Cayos package with Chaa Creek (also highly recommended; see our other review).

The property is gorgeous and the service is wonderful. We enjoyed lounging on the beach and in hammocks, the main pool and the infinity pool, hanging out at the bar, and watching the sunrise from the veranda of our plantation room. We also went kayaking, snorkeling, and fishing. Our guide for snorkeling and fishing was Roberto Sr. He made both experiences exciting and memorable. Luis at the dive shop was also very helpful. We ate all of our meals at either the Palmilla restaurant or at the bar. We thought the food, especially the snapper that we caught and they cooked for us, was excellent. Overall, you can't go wrong at the Victoria House--you'll have a great time!

My husband and I stayed at the Victoria House for four nights after being in the jungle at DuPlooy's and loved it there. The property was gorgeous and immaculate. There weren't alot of families so it was incredibly peaceful, probably one of the most peaceful places i have stayed. The beach is the longest/widest one on the strip with lots of palm trees and hammocks. You can't really swim in the ocean but the two pools were really nice.
The only room they had available when we booked it was Room 14 which is the smallest room and it doesnt have a view. I had very low expecations for the room but although it was a little small with little natural light, it was still very nice and we didn't mind it at all. We didn't eat dinner there but had lunch there most days which was good. We loved the bar area at night - a classic, upscale beach bar with great margaritas. We walked into town along the beach for dinner two nights and cabbed in for two. We went scuba diving from the hotel for two mornings and loved the dive master and dive sites. Snorkling was decent. The staff was nice (although not as friendly as DuPlooys which took a little getting used to) and overall it was an excellent stay. I recommend!

Once I decided on Ambergris Caye for our honeymoon, I spent weeks researching the various resorts. Victoria House provides an exquisite experience for a very reasonable price compared to some of the very high-end resorts.

My wife and I got the romance package and stayed in the honeymoon suite. I highly recommend both of these options. Our mouths were agape as we toured our suite. All decorations were authentic local handicrafts and available for purchase. The suite was roomy, and the wrap-around porch opening up on the beach was out of a fairytale! We felt very secluded in our stand alone suite, and the beach in front of us was practically empty with the occassional person strolling by.

The romance package provided a wonderful array of activities. The snorkling is a must, the sunset cruise was very romantic, the trip to the Mayan ruins was an adventure as well. The only trip we added was half-day of fishing. The catch was great and the resort's restaurant took our fish and prepared them as we requested.

The restaurant was beyond all expectations. Other reviews that talk about the priciness are correct, but ALL meals are included in the romance package. We were worried about growing tired of the food, but we loved it so much we only ate dinner elsewhere once, and while it was very good, it did not top the Victoria House, which I consider one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to.

I do recommend talking to the events coordinator ASAP upon arriving to the Victoria House just to ensure you are able to plan your different excursions on the days, and in the order you want.

The crew at Victoria House is above friendly, learning our names and preferences almost immediately. We ran into a couple of the waiters in San Pedro and they stopped and chatted with us and gave us advice on where to go. I kept waiting for a snag in the details, but it never happened. We have already planned on returning here for an anniversary in the future!
