This resort was great in every way. When we got off our plane in San Pedro we had to wait a whole 3 minutes for our taxi to arrive. Then we were taken to the shore where a boat and our wonderful Captain, Andy, was waiting for us. The short ride to the resort he gave us a brief idea of whats what as we passed it. When we got to Journey's End Resort, Bill was on the dock to greet us. They took our bags and didn't see them again until we got to our room. We had a quick complimentary cocktail at the bar and he gave us a quick tour of the property.

EVERYONE was kind and very helpful. If there was something you needed, you just asked for it and you got it. There was no one that would tell you what you could or could not do (within reason, of course). We stayed in the Garden Cabanas and it was perfect. There was a slight issue with the toilet in our room, but it was taken care of. What do you really expect? You are on an island!

The restaurant, LUNA, was absolutely amazing. One of the best we had on the island. Although it is not cheap, it is worth it! Lunch was probably the least favorite there. But breakfast was also really good! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone and would definitely stay there again!

Although this resort is a few miles from town, if you are looking to get away from the busy aspect of the town and do a little more relaxing, this is the place for you. You can always take the ferry or bike into town.

The property itself is nice, rooms are small, beach is not great, but nice. My biggest complaint is the cost of everything once you arrive, seems like they are trying to rip you off.. Also, some view it as a positive, others a negative, but you can't get to town very easily. The only real means of transportation is a water taxi, which is great but expensive if you do it a lot. I took my family of 5 which means it cost $70 round trip to get to town ($7 per person each way).

The property management group in texas is not very responsive and they left out important information about our trip.

The food was good, so long as you enjoy fish- everything else was terrible! Actually that's not true, breakfast was quite enjoyable.

All in all, I had a good time but would recommend another place..

We had a great stay at the Jouney's End resort. Journey's End was not our first choice but we were very happy with the resort

The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help us out more than once. We found the people to be very friendly, in general, everywhere on the island.

The beach was the best on the Island. In most places there was "seagrass" along the beach. But the beach infront of JE was relatively clear. They had a Hobi Cat and kayaks available free of charge. One thing they don't have is masks and snorkels. You can kayak out from the resort, tie up to bouys and snorkel at the reef.

The rooms had AC, a fridge, bed and bathroom but not much else. We had room #109 right on the beach. It was clean and neat.

The restautant was like you would expect, average but overpriced. We also ate at Rendevous, one property south. The food was pretty good but again, pricey. We ate at Portofino. It was by far the best restaurant we found on the island. They have a boat that will pick you up and drop you off at the resort.

The pool was very nice but back from the ocean. We didn't see many people using it.

One of the few drawbacks of the resort is that it is a long way (4 miles) from town. The only practical way to get to town is by bike or the water taxi ($7 per person, one way). At night the boat is the only real alternative. We were there during the slow season; so the service was hit and miss at best. One thing to know about staying to the north is that all the main resorts are far from town. There really isn't that much differenence between a resort 2.5 miles and 5 miles from town.

What made the vacation for us was the great snorkeling trip we took with Que Pasa tours. While we were snorkeling in the morning, Mario was spearing lobster, hogfish and gathering conch. For lunch he took us to a secluded spot on the beach and cleaned, prepared and grilled up his catch while we relaxed on the beach. I don't like fish but we had a great meal. The hogfish was unbelievable.

We had a great trip to Ambergris Cay. And the Jouney's End didn't disappoint. We walked the beach all the way to town and there are several nice resorts. Jouney's End compared favorably to most if not all of them.

“Great Beachfront hotel”

Journey's End Resort

Staying at this hotel was an excellent choice, it was a ways away from the central part of town but that also meant it was very peaceful and we didnt have the touristy atmosphere that San Pedro thrives on. JER has its own private beach with the occasional tourist riding through on their bikes. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, available at pretty much anytime of the night. The food at the hotel was slightly expensive but again, the country's main industry is tourism so things such as dining and activities will be more expensive.

The people in these reviews that complained about things such as bugs and expenses I think did not research enough where they were going. Keep in mind where you are traveling to, if you go to a third world country such as Belize, the standards are going to be different from those in the US and Europe. I have traveled around to many places in the world and have stayed in some very nice hotels, JER was great given the country and the lifestyle they have.

As for eating, there was also a nice restaurant right next door and also down the waterfront. JER is definitely a place for walking around without shoes and relaxing. It was about 7 belizean dollars to take the ferry in to town, which to be honest, we only needed 1-2 days there if that. The town of San Pedro had some nice restaurants that were recommended from the hotel staff as well as our tour guides.

One thing I would recommend, if you are someone that gets sick easily, get your Malaria shots and the other recomended shots before coming into the country. I did not get sick however a friend of mine did, she had to be flown to the nearest US hospital, where she was taken care of very well (healthcare is very cheap there) however, no need to go to through all that if you don't have to.

I would also recommend staying in one of the cabanas instead of the laguna rooms. The hotel arranged a flight from the Belize City Airport to San Pedro as well as our transportation from the San Pedro Airport to the hotel. I would HIGHLY recommend this, trying to get from Belize City to San Pedro on your own is not the best idea in terms of safety and expenses.

I would highly recommend staying here while you have the chance.

“truly disappointing”

Journey's End Resort

We booked our honeymoon trip through Liberty Travel to JE. Liberty Travel rated this a 4. When we arrived the front desk personnel we kind. We were shown to our room where we were truly disappointed. The AC did not work, the room was very small, the bed was uncomfortable, and there was not hot water. We wanted to go snorkel and were forced to walk to another resort because they did not have snorkels there at the time.
After an uncomfortable nights sleep we wanted to leave and were promised a refund because of the conditions. We went to Captain Morgan and had a great time. The problems were just beginning. When we got home we tried to get our money back and JE said they would not return any of it. Working with Liberty Travel was useless because the lady did not want to work. In the end, I paid for 3 nights stay and was refunded one (for staying there one night). In the end, losing 3 nights $$ and leaving JE was worthwhile because Captain Morgan was great.
