Well i didn't have a great 1st impression of this place having arrived at 10am on a flight to Ambergris Caye a taxi to the dock i then waited almost 5 hours for the Sueno boat to arrive even though i had called the resort twice the week before to confirm my flight would be landing at 10am and around 10:30am I would need a transfer to the hotel.
I saw the resort next doors boat Tranquility which was 2 mins away from Sueno go past twice in the time i waited. I had luggage so there was no way i was going to lug it around and explore the area while waiting.
When the boat finally came It was a horrible little boat and the ride there was bumpy as anything.
The resort phone like the WIFI rarley works and instead of going with a reliable carrier they use Von age. So your unable to call once you get to the dock to get them to come pick you up
Greeted at the Resort Dock with a warm glass of rum punch which was not drinkable.
Was quickly shown to my room.
I tried to organise a fishing trip for the next day but they only had the number for one company. The one that gave them a kickback. apparently one person going wasnt enough money for him to get out of bed.
I organised a diving trip through Tranquility next door and im sure my Instructor was still drunk from the night before.
The "Activities Included" are a Joke.
Left handed fishing poles.
And one of the staff members basically pushed me out of the way to cast his line in to catch a passing barracuda.
The kayaks were not sea worthy
The windsurfer was in disrepair
The snorkel gear was mismatched and not maintained
The room itsself was ok the AC in the living room/kitchen area didn't work and nothing was done after i notified the front desk of this problem on 2 seperate occasions.
Their free internet consists of a Cat5 (ethernet cable) in your room that you plug into your computer. Very slow dont expext to be able to stream anything, watch YouTube or Netflix.
There is wifi at the bar but it drops in and out all the time not a stable connection.
I tested the internet spped it was less than 1 Mbps over the entiire resort.
Their DVD's are all pirated and just burnt copies that skip all the time. The TV is a 1970's 27inch Tube TV which is also outdated.
The firness centre is outside in a thatched hut with no walls. There is no "Game Room" just a dart board.
I had locked the door before going to bed as i didnt want to be disturbed i told the front desk upon checking in that i would not need housekeeping service the first day. Low and behold i am awoken at 10am to the maid making a lot of noise in the kitchen. I told her to go away.
I ordered breakfast the 2nd morning and it was barley edible. The coffee is FREE because its disgusting i have had better coffee from a gas station. No milk just powdered creamer.
The drinks weren't cheap either by Belize standards
My advice is to buy Duty Free before you arrive here.
The food from the "restaurant" which is just the outside bar was always sub par.
The Resort next door has some great food. Fresh too.
The reviews i read on TripAdvisor are now basically Fiction as there are none of the staff members mentioned in them left at the resort. They all left.
The only 2 I will mention are Harrison and Pedro from the bar. these were the only friendly guys there. The rest of them didn't say hello or even smile
Now this is the part you NEED to read.
This property is 12 miles from San Pedro and only accessible by boat. The boat only runs on Mondays and Thursdays. It leaves at 8am and returns at 11am
If your lucky they may eventually pick you up when you arrive to come to the resort.
If you dont catch one of the sceduled runs they will charge you $125 US for a "private charter".
Beware of the bugs they are everywhere. I found a scorpion in my bathroom sink one morning.
If you have to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city then go next door to Tranquility next door. The rooms may not be as nice. But the staff and the food are great and they look after their activity equipment. They also have regular boat runs into town.
I have worked in the Hotel industry for over 10 years in 4 different countries and rarely get a vacation. This choice of resort was a huge dissapointment
