We visited Bella Vista in February 2013 and stayed in Iguana Mary's. We were very impressed by the hospitality provided by Susan and the staff. The setting is beautiful, tasteful, and the food at Aji's superb. We saw the chef selecting the fresh seafood at the dock for dinner that night, and the food as good as it gets.
Thank you Susan and staff for your hospitality, and we highly recommend Bella Vista. We will always remember our time there. Yours truly, John and Vivian Hermansen

Room Tip: We chose Iguana Mary's because we didn't want to cook and be self-contained. We wanted to e...

Staying at Bella Vista was an absolute delight! The grounds are beautiful, the cabanas are comfortable and private (I especially recommend Brisa de Mar), and the staff were all extremely helpful, assisting us in arranging all sorts of tours and adventures. The breakfasts were simple but tasty, and it was great to be connected to the amazing Aji restaurant. Though Bella Vista doesn't have its own pool, guests are allowed to use the next door Gran Caribe, which is much less charming but has a beautiful pool, so it's really the best of both worlds. Getting back and forth from the center of San Pedro does require some planning (I recommend renting bikes for the daytime, but using water taxis/land taxis at night), but if you're looking for something more secluded and quiet, it's worth it to be further up north. There are also a number of other good restaurants and bars within walking distance from Bella Vista.

Room Tip: Brisa de Mar can comfortably fit 3, and feels the most private of the cabanas as it is high up on st...

I just spent two weeks in the Laguna Vista casita at the Bella Vista and had an amazing time. The casita was quaint, set back inside the lush gardens on the property overlooking a small lagoon. With the deck set within the mangroves there was a fantastic amount of wildlife - I already miss the birds singing in the morning. Conveniently located on the property was Aji - an excellent restaurant with a variety of foods for everyone including fresh fish and lobster brought in by fisherman daily.

Susan, Victoria and Hugo the owners of the property and restaurant were absolutely fantastic people - kind and helpful at all times.

We stayed here for a full week in January 2013 and were very pleased with the experience. Our room was on the 2nd floor providing a large fully equipped suite with living room, kitchen, bath and large bedroom. Nicely appointed but modest and comfortable. We especially enjoyed seeing many wild friends from our balcony and on the resort grounds. Dozens of birds, iguanas, geckos, and bats...we also saw a Boa Constrictor and a gator swimming in the lagoon. Amazing! Food was better than average but you can walk to many restaurants by just following the beach. Great owners that really care about their guests. Highly recommended for couples and small families with a budget...very nice and a great value for the money.

Room Tip: We liked the second story room, great for bird watching.

Our stay at Bella Vista was everything we hoped for. Susan is an amazing host and did everything to make sure that we had all we needed and that any of our questions were answered. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, very unique and meticulously maintained. We loved waking up to the sound of the birds every morning and it was fun watching for glimpses of the crocs in the lagoon. We stayed in 'Laguna' and it was clean, and well equipped. The snorkeling tours we booked through Mannor (sp?) went off without a hitch and we also had fun using the bikes and the kayak. Hugo is a gifted chef and the meals we had at Aji were all delicious, and beautifully presented, (loved the paella!). You could not ask for a more romantic location for a restaurant.

The best thing about our stay though, was the way the entire staff made us feel. Every day we were greeted with warm smiles by everyone, nothing we asked for was too much trouble and we really felt that we were part of the Bella Vista family.
Thank you again Susan, Victoria, Hugo and all the rest of the amazing staff!

We told ourselves several times during our trip that we had picked the perfect place to stay. With only 4 casitas in the back, with kitchens, lounge areas, AC, and many amenities, it was an intimate, home-like experience. We stayed for 3 nights in El Jardin which was very quiet even though it is back against the wall that separates the property from the road. Then we stayed for a few more nights in Libby's Loft which was very spacious and comfortable, with a patio and hammock. The on-site restaurant, bar, beautiful gardens, thoughtful layout (with casitas separated from restaurant and bar by the lagoon)

We never had trouble finding Susan to ask her questions and the employees are very friendly and helpful.

With a free happy hour drink, bikes on the premises for $5/day, kayaks for rent, with breakfast included, transport from the airport or water taxi included, and the perfect distance of 2.5 mi north of San Pedro (easy bike ride along beach or on road), Bella Vista was an exceptional value. We would definitely stay here again.
