“What a GEM!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

First of all, don't let the exterior fool you. The food is one of the best meals on the island. We ate at several pricier "highly reviewed" restaurants and thought this place FAR exceeded any of them. Let's starts with Richard - a super nice and super knowledgable guy. You've got me I questions? This guy has all the answers. Let's start with drinks:
Craboo Colada - made from some berry/grape called a craboo. This was the greatest frozen cocktail I have ever in my life tasted.
Frozen Orange Mojito- the best Mojito variation I've ever tasted.
Apple Mojito - quite tasty and very different

Appetizers:
Salbutes - seriously just get them. To die for!
Fish balls - like a deep dried fish meatball but waaaay tastier than it sounds.
Entree:
Chicken kabobs with mango salsa, coconut rice, and vegetables - biggest dinner portion I've ever gotten anywhere and DELISH!

Let's recap- 4 frozen drinks, 2 bottles of water, 2 apps, and 2 entrees....$70 US. Wait, what? Yes you read that correctly. Alllllll of that goodness for seventy US dollars.

We also met the owner as we finished. Super great guy.

Oh, and try the hot sauces they make in house...make sure you get those frozen drinks first though LOL!

I consider myself a foodie or "food snob" if you will, and this place rocked my socks off.

“Belizean fare & atmosphere!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant has it all, outdoor fogon cooking, super sweet waiters, yummy food & live music!! My husband couldn't get enough of the authentic dining here... We stopped in 3 times in one week. Alberto the waiter was a real gem & he explained the entire menu to us each time:) the conch fritters were light & crispy & the stew was heavenly. The drinks were tasty if not strong. We def recommend trying El Fogon if you are looking for a true Belizean experience!! 2 thumbs up for the owners & the live music idea. We loved it!!

“Off the Main Roads”

Knew the bartender so stopped in for dinner. Mariachi was entertaining. Less of a breeze not being on the water. Careful with their HOT SAUCE, it is HOT. Nice meals, Fish was fresh. Pricey for the local fare but most of the better places are.

“Great caribbean food, good prices, wonderful service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

We found El Fogon on our first night on the island. Were we ever glad we did. It was a perfect welcome to San Pedro. We had conch fritters, shrimp ceviche (YUM), grilled fresh fish and rice and beans. Everything was delicious. Farid our waiter was a pleasure to have.

We ate on the patio which had sand under feet, and thatched roof overhead. Open air which meant we could enjoy watching the passerby on the street.

I also had a basil / cucumber margarita that was a unique and incredibly refreshing drink. Not too sweet for a change from most island drinks.

We recommended El Fogon to many people and will return next time on the island.
