“Great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Love the Pupusas! We had the pumpkin, shrimp, bean and cheese, and pork. 2-3 per person is very filling. Along with probably the biggest bowl of fish ceviche i had on the whole island. excellent meal. A must do.

The only downside, it is cash only.

“Lobster Burrito Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

El Salvadoran treatment of huge lobster burrito at great price. Enough for two with a lobster tail garnish on top. A must meal in San Pedro. Delicioso!

“Gigantic Burritos...so filling and sooo good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

My teenage son and I split the Lobster burrito and thank God we did. It was gigantic. It was stuffed with lobster and had big chunks of lobster on the outside too all for the impressive price of $13US....so worth it. We had their papusas too and those are so delicious too. It's fun to stop by there when they have their papusa cart out at night, they are known for having the best papusas on the island.....we would agree :)

“Delicious food for the value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

We stopped here while walking around San Pedro looking for a good affordable restaurant. They have some papusas as fast street food but you can also sit in and order from their menu. I got the chicken stew which you can't go wrong with and my boyfriend got the full lobster. We sat outside because it was quite hot and the food came after about 30 minutes. It was delicious and fresh. We also ordered some papusas which are a must try! The server was courteous and professions. We came to San Pedro a few days later with plans to eat at Waragama again but it was too early in the day and they weren't open yet :( really great place!!

“SOOO Good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Waruguma is definitely one of those "must-stop" places in San Pedro town! After finding the place the waiter promptly and happily greeted me, offered me a menu and a few moments to decide on my order. What I had heard about this place was that the pupusas were the best around, so of course I do the right thing and order a few of those and a lime juice. After about half an hour, the food arrives and all is right in the world. I dig in to a pumpkin (and cheese), spinach (and cheese), and a crazy pupusa (has many different meats, veggies and cheese) and enjoy every bite of the hot, fresh mess. The pupusas come with a nice, crisp slaw that balance the meal out. They are all about the size of the palm of your hand except for the crazy pupusa, which was the size of a standard dinner plate. Everything was delicious and it was easily one of the least expensive meals during my trip. A few things to note though:

1.This isn't America. Don't expect immaculate and perfect everything like you are used to back home. The staff keeps the place nice and clean (sweeps the floor, wipes down tables, washes cooking equipment). The restaurant is slightly open air and you can feel the humidity and mosquitoes when you are sitting close to the entrance. Come prepared for that.
2. Give yourself plenty of time to eat here. It took 30 minutes to receive my food my first visit and 45 minutes the second visit. Everything's cooked to order and the end result is marvelous but it takes some time. Sit back, order a fresh juice or a beer and relax. Nobody in the restaurant is rushing, why should you?
3. Bring cash. It's simple, they don't take credit cards. Don't fight them about it.
4. Enjoy the food and make friends with the locals :)
