“Best Kept Secret on the Island!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2015 NEW

We were told by a returning tourist not to be intimidated by the ambiance of this fine restaurant that uses linens and has awesome fresh flower arrangements! After our first dinner we were returning guests throughout our 10-day vacation in San Pedro and tried nearly everything on the menu. Monday night bottles of wine are half-price and every Sunday and Wednesday night is live entertainment by a local musician who does an excellent job. Celebrating my birthday at the Red Ginger was simply the best and they treated me to an awesome apple cheesecake that was absolutely scrumptious! What is the best is they serve "crystal" ice and water, unlike many of the other restaurants (like Elvis' Kitchen) that charges for a bottle of water. Breakfast is awesome at the Red Ginger as well with bottomless coffee and the wait staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. This is a restaurant where you actually "want" to leave a good tip for the excellent quality of food and staff. We were also impressed that the Red Ginger does not "add" a 12.5% GST to their prices like Elvis' Kitchen does (makes their prices look more reasonable). Every meal we had was made to perfection and the food was absolutely delicious! Don't miss out on a great breakfast, lunch or dinner--you can eat indoors or outdoors; both are an awesome experience!

“Tasty creative food and elegance - over-priced but excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2015 NEW

The place was beautiful, the decor serene, spacious and inviting. Skip the empanadas which were just like everywhere else on the island but double the price. The black bean soup and salad were very good, and the creme brulee trio (pineapple, mango, coconut) was over the top delicious!

“Best dinner of the trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2015

Although it was hard to find it proved worth the effort (see directions at bottom of review).
It was probably more upscale then we planned but after we walked in we were committed. The appitizer and meal was outstanding. The decor was modern and the style of food a variety of seafood cratively prepared. The conch ceviche sooo good. So if you want to splurge on your trip I'd recommend Red Ginger. If you want local (which the group did too) there are plenty of good places much cheaper for every other lunch and dinner.

The local freebie map makes it look like you can walk right in from the beach which isn't really true and Trip Advisor doesn't show it on there map (it does pin correctly on Google maps though). So to find it go down Pescador Dr and look right across the street from the fire station for the entrance. If you go north on Barrier Reef Dr take a left at the dead end and walk through the courtyard into the restaurant.

“Best lunch on the island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2015

I had the smoked turkey wrap with fries. By far the best thing I ate over a 4 day trip to Belize. Don't be in a hurry, but you don't have to wait in line either. Just remember "Island Time."

My wife and I went to the Red Ginger for a tapas dinner. Food was very good, with a special award to the cheesecake!!!
