We stayed at the Miramar Villas in unit's 3 and 4. We had a great time! Ceasar was there every day and was helpful to answer any questions. The owners of unit 3 definitely put more effort in the decor. The paintings and other decor gave it a nice island feel. To enjoy the island you need a golf cart! 250 dollars for the week and is well worth it. Suya tours and Joe's Mexican are within short walking distance. It takes about a fifteen minute golf cart trip to get to main part off town. Riding in golf carts around the island is a must it is a lot of fun. Most people are on golf carts or bikes. We enjoyed talking to local merchants. I highly suggest eating at Robin's. He cooks the meat outside on a grill a it smells wonderful. There is outside eating but we took to go everyday. It was the best meal we had and was only 6 dollars U.S. Do not miss that experience. We eat at Elvi's and Carumbas they were both excellent and cost about 15 dollars U.S. per plate. Dandi's ice cream was awesome and the owners are from Pennsylvania. We also ate at Pinochios and it was good. Stop by Maria's market for fresh produce and The Baker for baked goods they were both excellent and very inexpensive. Buying American type groceries is expensive pack, what want or just eat out or by local type goods. American wine and liquor a very costly bring your own or drink the carabien brands. We bought a five gallon bottle water and used it to fill up our smaller bottles.
Tours we booked through Suya and they were great. They pick you right at your dock and the guides were fabulous. Swimming with nurse sharks is a must and we also saw sea turtles. Cave tubing and ziplining on the main island was a lot of fun but it is a long day and you need to be in shape.
All in all we had a great vacation the Belize people are nice and they want you to have a good time. I am glad we chose San Pedro Island the word of other travelers is the island is more tourist friendly than the mainland. This is not a resort place. It is a condo type island and get on your golf cart and explore. We have traveled all over the Carribean and if you want a great resort go to the Atlantis, if you want laid back island feel go to Ambiras Caye, San Pedro, Belize. Miramar Villas is a good place to stay while you are there.
