Javier Tomas and Ruth will treat u right! Fifteen minute walk from town center, quiet and yet funky neighborhood w bakery and small shop meters away! Beachside Casita is a bargain...gotta love mangrove shaded beach for morning yoga!

This was a friendly, clean, quiet base in San Pedro. The location is perfect, just south of the bridge so easy access to the busy centre at the south of the island, as well as the resorts and bars to the north.

Our room was simple and clean with an en-suite bathroom, fridge and small balcony with sea glimpses. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful and the room was kept really clean and well maintained. We felt at home and at ease for the duration of our stay (one week).

We have been to the Ambergris caye twice now and stayed at 4 of the most recommended hotels under $100. Hotel del Rio has been the best! Great location, not far from the action.The staff are amazing, and always available to help. We got our room cleaned every day, even on Christmas day. The towels and sheets are brand new and very soft, the rooms are clean, and the ground are well cared for. I will say the bed was on the firm side. We stayed in the second floor palms veranda and had a great view. We did not find the room too rustic for the price it was quite the opposite, with new paint, art, and nice tile floors it was very comfortable without losing the island charm. Highly recommend!!

The staff went above and beyond the call of duty, especially with Jock our dog. They helped us enjoy a very nice quiet stay. While staying there Javier helped us book another two days for the 'End of the World Party' and a place for the next day Just in case. ha ha They just ran out of space on the Mayan calendar. Javier went out of his way to help us, along with the house- keeping staff and her children who took care of Jock and would not take any money for a tip.
