“Great for business travel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

The Hyatt Place Atlanta/Alpharetta/North Point Mall is a great place to stay on a business trip. The front desk/lobby/restaurant area configuration is refreshing and allows for a more informal and fun experience. The room layout is great for both working and relaxing. The location is convenient if you are working in Alpharetta or nearby areas and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: I recommend the 2nd floor or above as the first floor can be busy with activity.

My daughter and I stayed here twice for concerts in the last couple years. They have a great friendly staff, took us to concert in the hotel van n picked us up, rooms have huge tvs n comfy living area, rooms are immaculate n beds comfy...just all around one of the best places to stay. Close to shopping. Food was great. We will return again.

The rooms here are called suites but only have a partial divider between sleeping and lounging areas. The room is very spacious and accommodated 4 of us. There is a refrigerator and sink but no microwave (not sure if you can request one). The bathroom sink is outside of the toilet/shower part of the bathroom. The room was clean and the beds/couch were all comfortable.

Continental breakfast is included but you can order hot breakfast for an additional charge. There are also options for ordering food all day.

The staff were very helpful and even started breakfast a bit early one morning to accommodate an early soccer game for the tournament my son was playing in.

First time visit but colleagues tell me that the folks here have been at this hotel for YEARS. They are warm, engaging and concerned with the customer. Room was so-so, the air conditioner was a loud beast that dried up my sinuses...decor and furniture was ok, cleanliness on par...

I loved the staff and will gladly stay here again just for the excellent customer service.

Room Tip: Great little bar situation downstairs in the early evening, reasonably priced beer, wine, great peop...

A few things to get the most out of your stay:
Make sure to call to get the best prices. Request the 2nd floor for windows that open. Parking is generous, you can park beside the side / rear entrances. Go to www.awesomeAlpharetta.com for area coupons and additional info.
The hotel is located in the proximity of the North Point Mall. As typical with Atlanta, there are a lot of outlying areas around the mall. This is around a mile away from the mall itself. Think of it as the "outer ring" of restaurants and strip malls around the perimeter of the mall.
Thoughts on the rooms: WARNING FOR ALLERGY SUFFERERS - They use chemicals to freshen the air in the rooms. Those with allergies be warned. I recommend you call and request no air freshener / air lifter sprayed in your room (NOTE: The front desk were unaware the maid staff uses it. You may have to request to talk to the lead maid.) Rooms with opening windows can be requested.
The bathroom is small - with the tub / shower being narrow and short. High step over into tub. Thankfully, the shower curtain is one of the bent rods projecting the curtain away from the shower. However, the curtain is in your lap when sitting on the toilet. The tub / shower and toilet (one of those awful water saver toilets) are in one room. The sink and mirror are in the bedroom, making getting ready a bit difficult, if in mixed company. The towel rack is in the back of the tub / shower - a bit inconvenient, and water splash can get the towels wet when showering.
The room is double the depth of a standard hotel room. The 2 queen beds are in the back area, with the bathroom in one corner, the sink and mirror opposite the beds, and a very small closet behind the HUGE television. The television sits in the center edge of the room, and acts as a divider between the beds and the "sitting area." There is also a small, non movable divider between the "sitting area" and the beds. The beds are excellent. Not too firm, and not too soft. Plenty of pillows. NOTE: The comforters and pillows are DOWN FILLED, another allergy issue, and can be easily swapped for hypoallergenic versions.
The "sitting area" has a large sofa that folds out into a queen bed. The sofa is comfy (did not sleep on the sofa bed.) Also there is a "wet bar" and desk. The desk chair had seen better days, but was serviceable. The extra sink and mirror of the wet bar was definitely handy when getting ready. There was a mini-fridge, and one cup coffee maker (with coffee) on the "wet bar." No microwave. The mini-fridge did not cool well. No full length mirror in the room.
Food: Continental breakfast is included. The typical fare of plain bagels, bread, English muffins to toast were available. 4 different cereals were available. Cut fruit and yogurt filled out the rest of the breakfast. Additional food could be ordered for a fee, such as a huge omelet, and french toast. The only meat available is bacon. A side of 3 strips can be ordered for $2.51. To order, you are supposed to use the kiosk in the breakfast room. However, individual sides were not available on the Kiosk. The kiosk requires either your credit card, or room key (charged to your room) to use. Talk to staff if you want to pay in cash, or want individual sides. The kiosk system is clunky and does not always work.
Lunch and Dinner: Are also available. We ate lunch at the hotel. We ordered sandwiches. The $9 ($9 seems the magic money amount on the menu, as most entrees were this price) lunch purchase gives you the option of Ham and Swiss on Chiabatta Bread, or Turkey and Swiss on a Hoagie Roll, a bag of chips, and a cookie. The staff would warm the pre-made sandwich and add condiments on request. The sandwich was decently good, arguably better (in my opinion, better) than the Jason's Deli across the parking lot. The cookies are good and can be warmed on request. The food was expensive for what you get, but it is convenient.
The reason to stay here? The staff! Although the management is lacking (who the heck schedules a hotel manager 9 to 5 - Monday thru Friday? Apparently this Hyatt does...) the regular staff has the skills to correct the errors, and improve your stay, without the need of their management. The aforementioned allergies to the chemical sprayed to "lift the air," would have forced us to move to another hotel, were it not for the staff being creative, and moving us to another room which has windows that open, aired the room, and changed out the down pillows for hypoallergenic ones. They did it quickly easily, and with little to no inconvenience for us. They were quick to help, and made sure our stay was excellent. From the maid staff, to maintenance, to the front desk staff, all acted quickly to fix the issue, did so with smiles, suggestions to improve the situation, and made sure we had our needs exceeded. Excellent.

Very comfortable hotel with spacious rooms with working space and free high speed internet and that too at a good price. Very helpful staff who took me and picked me back from my office which was more than 5 miles away inspite of a rule that this bus normally goes only in 5 miles radius. Very neat and clean rooms, bathrooms and service was prompt. Best part if North point mall and other big shops are very much around and lots of eating options around even when you are not driving a car.
