We stayed in room 220 which is a suite with a kitchenette. There is a light above each room door and we noticed that there was a candy wrapper above the grate that covers the light (it was there the whole time we were there). We opened the door and the lampshade was dirty and perpetually crooked (tried to straighten it, didn’t work). The chairs to the table in the kitchenette were stained and worn. The sheers in the living area had what looked like water stains at the bottom of them and desperately need to be replaced. The carpet is worn and is unraveling at the entrance to the kitchenette and the bathroom. The dishwasher was very loud. Everything was clean.
The bathroom had several issues. The towel holder next to the tub is coming out of the wall. The towel holder that is supposed to be on the back of the bathroom door is gone. The towel shelf above the toilet is bent in the middle. The door does not lock because the lock that is supposed to be in the middle of the handle is gone. There is a hall closet next to the sink area (outside of the tub/toilet area) and the door (mirrored, no handle) does not match up to the opening. Everything was clean, but we did find a giant ant crawling around on the floor near the sink.
In the bedroom, the mattresses were very low and it was obvious that they were not the original ones in that room because they did not come up to the “headboards” mounted on the wall behind each bed. The bed skirts drug the floor all the way around the bed. The air conditioning unit smelled like mildew when we first turned it on, but we turned the temperature down and the smell went away. There was also a closet in the bedroom.
The breakfast was really good and the breakfast staff was friendly and attentive. The lobby and breakfast area look good, but the rooms need some serious re-modeling. Since this is a Hampton Inn, we expected better.
