4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

As indicated throughout the survey and experiences at several other Hampton Inns, conditions at this hotel were very good to excellent, except for the round bottom bath tub - the curved bottom, compounded by the slippery surface was difficult for showering - especially turning to rinse off (My wife slipped and fell.). It is difficult to say that the hotel provided soaps contributed to the problem. While grab bars may have helped, the slippery round bottom appears to be a hazard.

Thank you very much for your review. We are very sorry to hear about the incident with the bathtub. This is the first we have heard of her fall and deeply apologize that it happened. We will have our maintenance supervisor look into what can be added to assist guests in the future.

We stayed in room 220 which is a suite with a kitchenette. There is a light above each room door and we noticed that there was a candy wrapper above the grate that covers the light (it was there the whole time we were there). We opened the door and the lampshade was dirty and perpetually crooked (tried to straighten it, didn’t work). The chairs to the table in the kitchenette were stained and worn. The sheers in the living area had what looked like water stains at the bottom of them and desperately need to be replaced. The carpet is worn and is unraveling at the entrance to the kitchenette and the bathroom. The dishwasher was very loud. Everything was clean.

The bathroom had several issues. The towel holder next to the tub is coming out of the wall. The towel holder that is supposed to be on the back of the bathroom door is gone. The towel shelf above the toilet is bent in the middle. The door does not lock because the lock that is supposed to be in the middle of the handle is gone. There is a hall closet next to the sink area (outside of the tub/toilet area) and the door (mirrored, no handle) does not match up to the opening. Everything was clean, but we did find a giant ant crawling around on the floor near the sink.

In the bedroom, the mattresses were very low and it was obvious that they were not the original ones in that room because they did not come up to the “headboards” mounted on the wall behind each bed. The bed skirts drug the floor all the way around the bed. The air conditioning unit smelled like mildew when we first turned it on, but we turned the temperature down and the smell went away. There was also a closet in the bedroom.

The breakfast was really good and the breakfast staff was friendly and attentive. The lobby and breakfast area look good, but the rooms need some serious re-modeling. Since this is a Hampton Inn, we expected better.

I stayed at this Hampton in for a few night on business. On the plus side the hotel staff were excellent and the iron in the room was the best I had ever had in a hotel. On the minus side, the pool was filthy and I never used it because of that. The towels in the bathroom were very thin and worn out. The cleaning of the bathroom was not very good. I will not stay here on my next trip.

This hotel has very spacious suites with kitchenettes and separate bedroom and living areas. The furnishings are a bit dated and the bathrooms also need updating (wallpaper peeling, tile cracking, etc.) but if you can get past the 1990's decor you will be pleasantly surprised. The staff is very courteous and professional, and the breakfast bar is very plentiful and well-attended. For the money, this is a great value in Alpharetta. We were very pleased overall with the service and spacious accommodations.

I often stay at Hampton Inns. This one was not up to the standards of the brand.

At check in, I asked them to charge my credit card for the cost of the room, but not for additional incidentals - I don't intend to incur incidentals, and waiting for a refund for something I didn't purchase is a hassle. Other Hampton Inns are happy to comply with this request. At THIS Hampton Inn, the check in girl began by tapping the sign explaining the policy, and then telling me that "people have to understand that this is a franchise and they follow their own rules." Because I insisted that I not be charged for something I wasn't going to purchase, she proceeded to "trick" the computer into only charging me for my actual expense. But she was not happy about it. (She did manage to accomplish the task, though.)

Then I got to the room. It was spacious, and very pretty, and well appointed. In the bedroom, the furniture was awkwardly placed behind the room door. The door can't open because of a side table, etc. I moved the furniture back to the wall (it was sticking out 6 inches or more) and when I did, found that the carpet hadn't been vaccuumed in a LONG time. There were gummy bears from the prior guest, etc. Other than that, it did seem to be a clean room.

Then the band started playing at the restaurant across the parking lot. They played loudly until 2AM making it impossible to sleep. When we inquired at the front desk, they told us we couldn't be moved due to it being a holiday weekend. They told us "next time, request a room farther away." Now how would we know that for our first stay (and now, last stay!)

Room Tip: Ask to be FAR away from the front of the hotel if you are there on a weekend night. Rooms overlooki...
