Fantastic weekend deals! For those not familiar with the Atlanta area, Alpharetta is north of the city and the hotels in Alpharetta primarily service business travelers, not leisure travelers, so you can find excellent deals on the weekend, when business travelers are away. As an added plus, the Alpharetta area is very nice, not unsafe like much of Atlanta, especially parts of downtown Atlanta. Just a few minutes away from the Northpoint Mall and AG store. We didn't opt for the more expensive AG package deal, available on weekends, instead opting for the rate that just included breakfast. Breakfast was great, but way too expensive if not included (2 adults + 2 children around $45). Paid for 2 nights and used a reward night for the 3rd night; very frustrating how Marriott treats this as 2 separate reservations, requiring us to check out for the paid stay and check back in for the reward stay. Regardless, the hotel is typical Marriott -- nice, good service, nice gym, etc. Hotel staff lost my daughter's pajamas, which were left on a bed, but we didn't consider that a big deal. Small indoor pool was crazy busy on weekend nights, apparently families with small children (like us) there for the AG package. My wife though the mattress was too soft and extremely uncomfortable (was OK for me). Internet tip: free for "1 day" in the lobby (seems to reset every day, because it was free every day for us); costs approx $13/day in the room; log in while in the lobby, leave your browser open, go to your room and don't close your broswer all day; this worked for us throughout our 3-night stay; if you close your browser while in the room, you'll have to pay the $13 rate, or start over for free in the lobby. If you're staying several days and are interested in seeing some of the most popular Atlanta sights, google "Atlanta city pass". This pass is relatively expensive, but a very good value if you plan to visit these popular sites. We went to the zoo, aquarium, CNN, and Coke museum in 2 days (wish we had gone to the Fernbank); aquarium, CNN, and Coke can be done in 1 day, without moving your car ($10 all day parking at aquarium or Coke).
