We stayed in Albany for one night and chose the Hilton Garden Inn. For the price it was not that great. I've stayed at another hotel chain that cost almost $40 less per night and the quality was better than the Hilton. The hotel itself is nice and is clean. The room is comfortable, clean, and the beds are soft. Our room had a queen bed, a fridge, microwave, desk and comfortable chair with a footrest. The area that the hotel is in is terrible, however. When we ate dinner on the other side of town we talked to our server about the area and what there was to do. We told him we were at the Hilton. He said it was a very nice hotel but the part of town we were in was referred to as 'cracktown'.
The Flint River is directly across the street, as is the Flint Riverquarium (I didn't have a chance to go there). There is a small riverfront park and walkway that was pleasant before dark.
If I return to Albany I'll probably stay at the Hilton again for the cleanliness and safety of the property (the police station is walking distance).
