Found out about this resort through Conde Nast magazine. Listed it as one of the two resorts in Georgia out of their Gold List according to 25,000 reader responses as the best places in the world to stay, so had to check it out. The grounds and ambiance are excellent. The staff - have never encountered any better. Friendly and attentive to a fault. When we encountered a couple of very minor issues, the staff was johnny on the spot to correct them - a great sign that the resort puts customer service at a premium. Our room was very nice, and we were staying in one of the more economical options. The complimentary fire pits with s'mores kits in the evening on the grand lawn area were a great way to wind down the evening. While marketed as a romantic getaway resort, which it certainly is, I'm sold that this is great spot for a guys getaway / bachelor party weekend. Golf, Tennis, Hunting, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Skeet Shooting, Canoeing, Hiking, etc... Really enjoyed the golf course, but it is an unforgiving ball eater if you don't keep it in the fairway. As for dining, the Woodlands Grill is basically your normal golf club grill food, and is good. The Rice House is the other dining option, more formal, and is very good. I would choose to spend all my evenings dining with them. BTW, there are no other options for dining nearby. The next best is a Cracker Barrel that is a 20 minute drive away :) Really enjoyed the whirlpool which is open 24/7, just like the pool, and both are adjacent to their spa. Spa closes at 5 PM, so did not experience their offerings, as it did not fit into our schedule. At the end of the day, while an exceptional resort, the superb staff and excellent ambiance are what make this place work, and being so close to Atlanta makes it a quick and easy long weekend getaway.
