“Delicious! Come eat in this strip mall!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Finally found a strip mall restaurant with delicious food. Ordered skirt steak medium with Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoe mashed. Steak had enough red yet tender and flavorful. The mash sweet potatoes were great and not over done with the usual cinnamon and such. My friends had scallops, another the chicken and the last the shrimp dish. They are all raving how good it was. Dessert! Of course. Beignets were plentiful and covered with the right amount of chocolate sauce powdered sugar nd caramel. At the table we also had the apple walnut crumb pie with ice cream. Soooo good. Service was on top of her game and pleasant. Stop here to eat! Your stomach will thank me.

“Always Good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Ate here last Saturday night. Fortunately, we had a reservation. The food was excellent, as always. Wonderful selection on menu. Server was nice and friendly. Had to ask three times for bread to be brought to the table, otherwise it would have been rated as excellent!

“Fish lovers' delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We had a delightful and delicious dinner for three -- the two of us plus Jeff's dad. Elaine's roasted beet salad and Jeff's baby spinach salad were fine starters -- excellent ingredients, wonderful flavor combinations, and sizeable portions. Jeff's dad was perfectly satisfied with his straightforward shrimp cocktail. The true stars of the meal were the fish main courses. Elaine had the grilled mahi-mahi, Jeff the yellowtail snapper, and Jeff's dad the slow roasted salmon. Each choice was wonderful: delicious, simply but perfectly prepared, with accompaniments that enhanced the flavor of the fish without ever overpowering it. The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The noise level grew a bit as the tables all filled during the course of our meal, but never to the point of defeating conversation. In short, for those who love fish and are able to get to northern Dade county, Pilar would be a great option.

“Wonderful Neighborhood Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We've been going to Pilar for a few years and always enjoy our meal. It's a local, neighborhood restaurant with numerous fish dishes and interesting appetizers. The servers are young and personable, and the kitchen will honor requests to customize the dishes to your taste. The prices are extremely reasonable and the decor simple and contemporary. There's rarely a wait so we don't make reservations and it's location in a strip mall makes the parking very easy. I wouldn't go there for a special occasion but it's dependable and easy.

“Go to this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

If you are in Miami or anywhere near this place, go for dinner. Husband had the fried Calamari, the Tuna, and grilled Asparagus. I started with the home made Hummus, and as an Entree, I chose the Grilled Shrimp stir-fry. Loaded with shrimp and the fresh veggies were delicious. We both shared the house made sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. We ended with those little square type donuts drizzled with chocolate. Our server, Alex, was wonderful. Overall, a terrific dining experience.
