“Just average.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

Everything was just average. And a man was smoking in the enclosed porch while eating his dinner and it was blowing in the main dining area where my family was sitting. Gross!!!!!

“Yes it is a shack!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Very good seafood and reasonable prices. Four of went on one of the coldest days Mayport, Fl has felt in years but found this Shack warm and friendly with excellent seafood . I had a bowl of delicious oyster stew that had at least a dozen oysters and great broth that was buttery and served pipping hot, mmmmmmm. With that I had a solf shell crab sandwich that was tasty and seasoned with Old Bay just to my Delmarvaous crabs on the Chesapeake Bay. Wife tried the Sheep's head fish fillet with collard greens and side salad, I never even got a taste, she said it was yummy. Friends had fried oysters and fried clams, only take home box was for two of twelve fried oysters and some fries. Very good place to eat, right on river where cruise ship depart Port of Jacksonville.

“Excellent seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Singleton's Seafood is definitely a water-front Shack, but has some terrific seafood. They have their own shrimp boat in the back, so the seafood is very fresh. It is located right next to the Mayport Ferry which can be a fun way to get there (though it wasn't working when we were there last). It is accessible via roads as well. We heard about it from family that lives in the area & from the DDD tv show. The Minorcan Chowder is quite delicious. The shrimp, baked potato & creamy cole slaw were also wonderful. Others were very pleased with the scallops and other fresh fish. Kids' Menu is also available with popcorn shrimp and other non-seafood options. Great place for a family meal with great service, friendly atmosphere and large tables available. The prices were very reasonable, portions were large and food was delicious. As an extra treat, check out Ray Singleton's wooden model boat "museum" in the back room. We go back for a meal whenever we're in the area.

“Wow, that's a lot of food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

Yes, the setting is a shack. Nothing fancy at all here, but you do get a great view and a huge helping of some great tasting, fresh seafood! We very much enjoyed Singleton's. The blackened scallops and fish were some of the best I've tasted. My daughter was able to order fried scallops from the children's menu - something I've never seen as an option for the kids. The serving were huge - you won't leave hungry! Indeed, the kids plates were as large as some adult portions I've seen. We will definitely make a return trip here when back in the area. It is worth the drive if you are in Jacksonville!

“A Shack with good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

If you're put off by old time Florida shacks that look like they've seen better days, don't stop here. However, if you don't mind plywood walls and a little dirt, then eat here because the seafood is tasty. We were in town for an event and looked at Trip Advisor for hints about where to find good fried shrimp. This was one of our choices and we certainly weren't disappointed. The shrimp were super fresh and cooked perfectly. Having lived on the coast for a number of years, we miss good seafood. This really hit the spot.
