“Great seafood with waterfront dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We drove an hour from
Ocala to take our parents on an outing and to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. The food, atmosphere, and waitress were excellent. We had filet mignon, crab legs, and trigger fish. The chocolate covered key lime pie was also very good.

“Florida at it's best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

If you are in Aston, you will end up here! Fantastic view of the historic St. John's river, great food! I had the sirloin, nice change after my last 5 seafood vacation dinners! Very good down home southern service. Do not leave here without trying the chocolate dipped key line pie!! Must do.

“Loved it, On St John's River, good food, took me back to "Old Florida" that I love”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Beautiful setting on the St. John's River. We had the shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp & fish. The 30 item salad bar was very fresh and set up when we arrived shortly after the main restaurant opened at 4:30. Our waitress Amanda was very friendly and on point, she didn't rush us and her timing with our meal was perfect. We loved the old Florida ambiance of the Blackwater Inn Restaurant, we were seeking it and were not disappointed. (For those of you that want brand new, chain restaurants, run of the mill, this place is not for you) It has wood paneled walls, darker decor, nautical motif, ... Good Food. etc. Perfect if you would like to see what Florida restaurants were like years ago. Reminded me of childhood and going out to eat near the water at various places. We absolutely loved it. They have a little bar downstairs that gives you the feeling of being on a boat, cozy. The view of the water cannot be beat! Very clean restrooms too. We look forward to our next visit in this area and hope the decor hasn't been updated too. They even have a small fishpond inside, I bet the kids would love. Go back in time with decor, prompt friendly service, good food and relax & enjoy. Also, we took the St. John's River Tour that departs from the dock behind the restaurant. Captain Ernie was right on schedule, friendly, funny, and gave us so much history on the area and river. We saw what he said was approximately a 12-13 foot alligator on shore, all kinds of birds, turtles, smaller alligator. Clean boat too.

“Wonderful Dining Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed a lovely dinner overlooking the river. My maple glazed salmon was amazing. My husband had the fried seafood platter and my son had the crab legs, everything was very good. The gator bites appetizer and the chocolate dipped key lime pie completed the meal perfectly. We dropped an easy $100, but we had a gift card so we weren't worried about the expense. There were less expensive options and we've heard they are wonderful as well.
