“Excellent place for the money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Stayed here with family Sept 1-2, 2012. Very nice! clean, modern rooms! The staff was The Best ever! Miss Chelsea was so helpful, attentive and made sure we had all we needed and more! In fact, we were treated very special by all the staff! We will stay here on our next trip over! We are from Pensacola and come over to Appalachacola and the surrounding areas often.
Thank you to Best Western for hiring such a great staff and having a very nice hotel!
Two Thumbs Way Up!

Room Tip: Hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did!

Hotel/motel that we like.

Etablissement very clean, good breakfast and very easy to put your car in front of your room.

Breakfast was "ok" . Rate was very good.

Apalachicola is special , nobody in the streets, shops was closed on monday and tuesday,

Employees , at retaurants in downtown are not very friendly like in others places in Florida.. It is a strange ambiance!

We didn't make a reservation ahead of time because we weren't sure what time we were leaving home and how tired we might be. We drove in and the desk clerk was friendly, the AAA rate was $85.50 plus tax and we got a king bed and a very clean room. The air conditioner is water cooled which was also great as it was about 100 outside. No complaints about anything!

The next morning we had the breakfast, which was the basic egg patties, sausage patties, assorted breads for toasting, make your own waffles, some fruit, milk, juice, coffee and cereal.

Don't hesitate on this one....you will get a room that is clean, cool and updated. If you can imagine my stay the next night in St. Augustine, Florida...you would think this place was the White House!!

Room Tip: We were right up the stairs next to the office, quiet and the hotel was almost completely booked whe...

I was in Apalachicola the afternoon after Tropical Storm Debby began hitting the area. The bridge across was closed due to high winds so we looked for a place to stay the night in hope of getting over next day. We went to the Best Western which was without power despite other businesses in the area with it. They explained that the electric company was on the way and that power should be restored in a few hours. We checked in to wait out the storm.

In a few hours, my wife went to the lobby to check on the status of the power to overhear a new person at the front desk telling others who were asking that she didn't have any idea when or IF power would be restored that night and that refunds would be given if power was not back on.

By 9 pm that evening, power was not restored and the person at the front desk went to each room telling everyone that power would not be back on that night and probably the next day.

The next morning, I went to the people working the front desk (who were there when I checked-in the previous day) and told them they should not have said power would be back on soon because our family could have gone to another town for the night. I also mentioned the employee who said refunds would be made. They told me this person was not a manager and, therefore, could not make such a promise. I asked them about their comments that power would be back on and they told me that it was their understanding at the time. No refund or discount was offered. They went on to complain about having the shut down the hotel that night because it was going to be 2-3 days before power would be restored.

I understand that such things are beyond the control of any hotel but I should have NOT have been told power was likely in a few hours OR that our bill would be refunded by another employee. Due to the heat, (windows in the room don't open) my family got little sleep.

Our vacation got a lot better as soon as this Best Western was in our rearview mirror.

Beds were nice, food at breakfat was all carbs. Faux eggs etc ended more than an hour before breakfast hours and were not replaced, Cleaning crew friendly and helpful. Front desk did not help a man who had paid for a jacuzzi which was not working. Never offered even a 10% discount for essentally over paying. Told him to write a formal complaint to their headquarters. Please!! Nice pool and clean rooms for the price.

We stayed two nights while exploring Apalachicola and the surrounding area.
The rooms are exterior-access and appear to have been remodeled. The room we stayed in was clean and was equipped with a mini-refrigerator and an older TV. The shower looked new and water pressure was very good.
We were disappointed in the pool. We didn't use it because the water looked dirty and there was floating debris (including a dead bird) that we reported to the desk attendant.
The staff are friendly and try to be helpful but seem to be overwhelmed at times when it gets busy.
The breakfast had a variety of choices and was very adequate.

I stayed here 3 nights with my husband and 2 children, ages 8 and 15. It is right along the coast, but there are no beaches nearby. An easy 15 minute drive across 2 bridges will take you to St George Island, which has spectacular beaches. It is also 5 minutes from Apalachicola, a quaint and funky, but quiet little town. Not too many affordable hotels in the area, so the Apalach Inn was a nice surprise.
The Good: Location; price; comfortable bed (important to me- I had a serious back injury and I'm picky); nice staff; very safe (child didn't close our door completely when we went to dinner, returned 2 hours later to find a slightly open door with laptop, tablet, and $800 camera in plain sight, but untouched. Another guest accidentally left her iPad on her car overnight); fridge and micro in room; the included breakfast had a good variety of cold cereals, instant hot cereals, coffee, tea, juices, asst breads, waffles, egg patties, and link sausage.
The Not-So-Good: found children's fast food containers in the dresser drawer, pieces of cereal under the edge of the bed, and a spot on the pillow that seemed to indicate the case was not changed. We didn't complain; we were tired and the room seemed clean otherwise, just didn't use the pillow. The dryer needed 2 cycles to dry our clothes, so a load of laundry cost $4 to wash and dry, while people waiting for the dryer complained. The pool could have used a better cleaning, it usually had leaves and debris floating in it. Breakfast the last morning was a disaster- 45 minutes before it was supposed to end, they were out of most breads, orange juice, milk, and eggs. After repeated requests they brought out more eggs, but the attendant said she had asked for permission to go buy some and had been turned down. My daughter had to throw out her bowl of cereal and get something else after waiting nearly 30 mins for milk. Very disappointing. Breakfast never included cocoa for children, so we brought our own.
Overall, I liked it and will stay there again, but there are little things that could certainly be improved.
