“Charming Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

The Witherspoon Inn is a restored 140 y/o home in the center of Apalachicola. We stayed on the first floor in a two room king bed suite. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a tub shower combination. There was a sofa bed and end table in the other room. Across the hall there is a kitchenette with coffee and tea pots and supplies, a mini-fridge, etc. Sandy, the inn-keeper provides juice, fruit, biscotti, coffee, tea, ice, and many, many tasty baked goods. In a threee night stay we saw muffins, brownies and sour cream pound cake. The inn is decorated with contemporary furniture and the walls display original artwork by Sandy's husband. The Inn is located less than a block from the main road and just a block or two from the main street shopping district, on a quiet street. The second floor rooms open on to a balcony with a view of a very large, very lovely live oak tree. No TV or phone but there is wifi with a good signal. All in all a nice place to stay in a good location in Apalach.

We liked being within walking distance of everything in this interesting, historic town. Our hostess, Sandy, was welcoming and full of helpful information. She bakes and provides great snacks and continental do-it-yourself breakfast. There was even some wine in the handy refrigerator. We found an excellent restaurant nearby and saw several other choices. The oysters were fine and the only effect of the oil spill seemed to be a decrease in tourism. There is no tv but there is wifi and Sandy is currently building a gazebo in her garden so that she can host weddings.

Stayed at the Witherspoon Inn during a birthday getaway weekend. very nice B&B. Quiet, convenient to town and very nice service by owner Sandy Kenniston. Fresh muffins and fruit in the morning plus some tasty travel sweets when we left. Wonderful little art museum next door and easy walking distance of many downtown shops and restaurants. Good value for the money.

Four couples (good friends!) took the trip up to Apalachicola for the Apalachicola Seafood Festival and to celebrate my husband's birthday and one of our friends's birthday. What a wonderful weekend at the Witherspoon Inn. We had the whole bed & breakfast to ourselves (there are 4 rooms). Sandy, the proprietor, lives next door. She met us on the porch as we all arrived, just like we were old friends! Brought us fresh baked pumpkin bread, beer bread and even baked a special Key Lime Pie for my husband's birthday! She is a wealth of information about this quaint town. Everything was within walking distance, the rooms were very clean, very comfortable. All our friends enjoyed themselves totally! We will definitely be visiting again!

Witherspoon Bed and Breakfast was a great place to stay. Sandy, the owner, was so helpful. She had details on everything in the local area. T-Mobile did not work there, so she gave us a cell phone to use. The rooms are very nice, clean and well decorated. The location is off the main road so it quiet. The top two rooms open to a balcony under a huge live oak tree. If you like seafood, this is the place to be. Apalachicola is very small with one yellow flashing light. You'll see all the night life in one day. Witherspoon has no pool, no internet, no phones. Great place to get away from the rat race.

I found myself further back in time with with lace doilies, crystal pieces and rocking chairs on the balcony by a huge oak tree. Didn't miss a TV or phone. It was a relief to just check on the internet when I cared to, let the world go by and listen to the morning and evening doves or watch the moss blow in the breeze. A sanctuary retreat from the busy world with bubblebath. Also, a lot of good restaurants and Apalachicola oysters around the corner.

Definitely a place I would go back to.
