“Nice little stop to see history of the island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

This is a free, donation-funded museum that is small, but a nice little stop to see the history of the island with some great photos and artifacts plus you can see the house that fell in the bay and was recovered and the AMI jail.

“Grass root & done with Love!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

We have enjoyed watching this 'local' effort mature over the years. We went to see their special display about Roser Memorial Church; celebrating the "100th" of the Roser Chapel. If you'd like to learn & see evidence of the Island's past, here is the only place to visit. Just fifty feet outside, ask to visit a house chuck full of local donations of 'vintage' furnishings; especially if you like old kitchen items. Take your camera & get a family photo of the old'e Island jail. The museum is FREE; they welcome a donation!

“It only takes a short time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

The Museum is a small building with photographs and memoriabilia of Anna Maria Island. The most striking aspects of it were the aerial views in terms of seeing the development of the island from the 1950's to now and talking with the docent who was staffing the Museum on a Saturday afternoon. Like every place else Anna Maria is a product of geography and particular people who make it special. We learned a lot about present day Anna Maria from the docent.

“Interesting and informative”

Nicely laid out buildings depicting the history of the island. Thursday is bread day. Soda bread available for purchase which is delicious. Proceeds benefit the historical museum.

“Very worthwhile!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

A local friend of mine is in charge of the docents, and I can vouch for their dedication to this historical museum. If you have the time, go through the pictures and articles displayed to learn more about the origin of the first settlers and the growth of this lovely community. There's also a small cabin of historical value that you can tour and an "air-conditioned" jail.

On Wednesday morning, they sell homemade bread, so be sure to come early because it sells out quickly. Donations and welcome and the bread is $5.
