We eat at the City Pier every time we get to Anna Maria Island. The Pier is usually our first or second dining place after arrival. This visit to the island, I was able to get to the Pier twice, and both times with friends at Early Bird time. Watch the people fish while you have a glass of wine or a beer at the outdoor bar; listen to the music/singer at dinner time; eat indoors or outdoors, depending on weather. And, if you are there from (I think the hours are) 4pm to 5:30pm, try the specials listed on the tabletop stand.
The City Pier Light draft beer is good any time, but better at about half price of $1.50. I had a grouper sandwich on one visit, and Caesar salad with blackened shrimp on the other. (City Pier Light on both visits!)
Great value, very good food. Hurry! I think the special pricing is suspended during "High Season = February thru April". Even if you are not there at Early Bird, same delicious food and good pricing and funky atmosphere.
