“Hidden Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

My husband and I just returned from our anniversary weekend at La Maison de Lucy and I have to tell you we were looking for a nice place with a relaxing atmosphere but close to home and we sure found it here! Micheal, the owner, met us as we arrived with a warm welcome and as soon as we were inside Fern took such good care of us from the time we checked-in until we left. My husband enjoyed talking with Lou as he was doing some handy work around the place. He also cooks a great omelet! We enjoyed the company of Micheal and his brother David, whom had just flown in from France, at breakfast and learned a little history about the building and all the hard work put into it. We were lucky enough to get a tour of the rooms and it doesn't really capture how authentic they really look in the pictures on the website. You truely have to see each room in person to appreciate all the detail and hard work that went into recreating each country the room represents. Give Fern a call and she will gladly give you a tour! We stayed in the China room which was decorated beautifully. It had books, newspapers and dvd's about China and it even had an oriental scent in the room. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

La Maison de Lucy is truly a special place. The rooms were well-appointed and equipped with all the technological comforts of home. I stayed in the "Kenya" room, slept under luxurious linens, and enjoyed a peaceful night's slumber far away from the noise pollution back home. The inn keepers Fern and Lou were there to assist at every turn and owner Michael Setborn's "Crepe Nutella" was worth a return trip. We look forward to our next visit.

In the quiet town of Alford, FL there is a vibrant jewel, La Maison de Lucy, sitting at 2388 Park Avenue. If driving through the peaceful town of Alford, you would never expect to stumble upon such a luxurious treasure! Owner Michael Setboun from Paris, France spent at least an entire year of his life putting his blood, sweat, and tears into transforming the once schoolhouse gone messy antique store into the dream it is now. Michael's passion for traveling around the world is what influenced the theme of the incredibly classy bed and breakfast. There are twelve different rooms...each a different country...ranging from France to Italy to China to Kenya to the USA...and that is only naming half of the countries! If you think that alone is fabulous...just wait...there is so much more....
Each country/room has its own kitchenette, living and dining room area, closet, bedroom, and bathroom. The walls are vibrant with the colors that represent the country. Each room is quite the educational experience. There is authentic furniture and art work from each country that fills each room. There are calendars, travel guides, cookbooks, pictures, and reading materials everywhere to look through. Some of the walls are entirely covered in the landscape of the country. For example, Ireland's walls are covered with rolling green hills that make you feel as if you are actually there. Music from each country is softly playing to enhance the experience even more. My personal favorite touch is the scent in each room...each scent indigenous to the country fills the room when you open the door. Hollywood smells like rose water, France like lavender, and so on and so forth! Every time you walk into a new room you feel as if you are opening a new gift on Christmas morning!
If you are not sold on how surreal each room is, here's more for you to indulge in...
There is a full-time chef on site to fulfill your cravings and a huge, beautiful breakfast room to enjoy time together with your loved ones. There is a sitting area/library and even Guitar Hero and other Wii games to keep you entertained! For you workaholics...do not fret… you have internet access and phone reception to continue your business tasks and meet your deadlines! There is a beautiful event center for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, conferences, or anything that needs a large and classy space to use for any occasion! Michael's right and left hand man and woman, Fern and Lou, are a local couple who help him manage the bed and breakfast, and are rays of sunshine there to make sure you are enjoying your stay as much as possible. I really had no idea what to expect before visiting La Maison de Lucy, but it exceeded my expectations beyond belief. I was there for only 24 hours, which was entirely too short of a stay. I felt tears come to my eyes when we pulled away from what felt like a dream come to reality and I never wanted to leave. If you are traveling through the area or just need to get away, please treat yourself and/or your loved ones to an experience...or should I say a trip around the world...that will warm your heart for a life time.

I wanted to invite my wife in a very high standard luxury hotel. My friend recommended it as there is nothing like it on earth.
It is the high end of luxury with each room beeing different, we stayed in the Indian room. My wife can still not believe we found this secret place south of Alabama.
Outstanding quality and atmosphere, tenants are amazing people. I cannot wait to come back
