“Great Value, Location, and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

This inn is located right on Main Street. The innkeeper and owner are so friendly, and they recommended places for us to eat within walking distance and places to drive to see the changing aspens.

Our room was. It had a day bed for our toddler son to sleep on, and even enough space for the Pack 'N Play for our baby.

There are a few downsides to the hotel, but nothing that would keep us from coming back. Our room was always hot. We turned down our thermostat to 64/65, but the heat kept coming on even when the room was 70. The bathroom had its own electric heat, too. The only way we could keep the room cool was to keep the windows open all night. It was a waste of heat!

The other downside to our room was that there was no coffee pot. I'm one of those people who likes to sip on coffee all morning and decaf all afternoon. There was coffee in the main lodge in the morning only.

Speaking of the main lodge, it's not 24 hours. When our kids napped during the day, we could hang out in the lodge with our sound monitor to keep an ear out for the kids. At night, we ended up hanging out outside. It would have been nicer if the lodge was open.

The good parts of this hotel definitely out-weighed the bad, and we'll definitely be back if we ever find ourselves in Aspen again. Hopefully, they'll have coffee pots by then!

This is what I wrote to the Annabelle:
Hi Charlie (and the rest of the staff):
My husband and I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thanks for a really great night's stay in Aspen on Sept. 29th. We were very pleased with our room (great decor, comfy bed, good shower, and lovely window seat). And to top it off your rates are a breath of fresh air in a overly priced market. We both feel like we found the absolute best value in all of Aspen. Next time we are in the area we won't even bother checking around, we know that we will stay at the Annabelle Inn again.

Many thanks!te to the inn directly..loved this place!

We first visited the Annabelle two years ago for Sping Break, we decided to go back this year with our three kids to enjoy fun in the snow. The hotel is still spectacular and a lot of fun. Charlie and his staff did a great job taking care of our needs and making us feel at home. It was great to have breakfast, snack and apres ski in the main hall as it provides perfect bookends to our days on the slopes. The kids loved it as they could eat a variety of things while the parents loved the hassle free meals even more.... The location was also great with easy access to all the mountains in Aspen. We had rented a car and this time even with the baby found that we didn't need it as it was an easy 10 minute walk to the middle of town, plus an easy two steps out the door to hop the bus to any of the mountains. Additionally, there is a playground a block away for the little ones to enjoy some time as they were not taking ski school. The rooms are comfy and up to date as are the bathrooms. We were fortunate to have two connecting rooms with an upstairs alcove that proved ideal for all our needs. We went with a nanny as well. Everyone had plenty of space and privacy. There are also two jacuzzis on site that make for an ideal way to relax after skiing. The kids came out wrinkled like raisins and the parents had an opportunity to catch up on conversations and relax. Needsless to say everyone slept very very well... The last gem are the transfers to and from the airport, really they make life easy for you at the Annabelle. Maybe next time we go during Summer!

Room Tip: On the second floor there are two adjoining rooms with an alcove upstairs that is ideal for families...

I'd give this a rating of "very good" but for around the $200/night that we paid, I expect better. I know Aspen is expensive, but still.
For the positive aspects, it is well-located in that everything is in walking distance. We drove in from Santa Fe and parked the car and didn't use it again until we left, so this was a good feature. The room was clean, and the bathroom very spacious (oddly large considering how small the room was), clean, and the shower lovely. The two hot tubs were awesome. The front desk staff were friendly and courteous.
However, the room was fairly small, and our room was right on the busy corner of Main St. and 2nd St. I thought Aspen would be quiet. It was not. Constant trucks and buses, and the second morning we were woken by a half dozen blaring emergency vehicles going 80 down the 25mph street. We would have liked to leave the windows open since the air was so fresh, but couldn't due to the noise, but the A/C cycled on and off so frequently it kept waking me as well.
The bed was not comfortable, and the headboard seemed quite flimsy. The included breakfast was not as good as I expected based on the rate. The second morning we went elsewhere for breakfast.
I had expected some kind of parking, but were told that meant parking on the street nearby. It wasn't really a problem over the Labor day weekend, and found a spot less than 2 blocks away.
I would stay there again for $150/night max.

Room Tip: Avoid any room facing Main Street.

I am sorry to hear that Jim from Santa Fe left the Annabelle Inn less than fully satisfied.

We do our best to inform guests that street noise can be an issue in our standard rooms. It is prominently noted in the room descriptions on our own website and the descriptions that we provide to all our booking partners. This reservation was booked via an Online Travel Agency. Unfortunately, some websites do not make that information as obvious as we would like. To add to this guests difficulty, it was a sold out holiday weekend and we had no flexibility to move the guest to a more suitable room.

Our rooms are not the least expensive in Aspen. Our room prices are extremely competitive in the Aspen market. One can find a larger room or one that is more nicely appointed at a lower rate, but if anyone can find a room that is both, I will gladly refund the difference. It is our desire to provide excellent service and a comfortable room at a reasonable price and I am sorry to hear that Jim from Santa Fe, felt we fell short of that mark.

I would like to hear more from this guest regarding our breakfast. I feel we provide an excellent continental breakfast which includes; fresh whole fruit, hard boiled eggs, four cereals, freshly baked muffins, ham, turkey, two cheeses, salami, three juices, coffee, several teas, and breads & bagels that are delivered fresh daily. However, there is always room to improve so I am glad to hear any constructive criticism from our guests. If Jim would care to reach out to me, my personal e-mail is charley@annabelleinn.com.

Thank you for taking the time to read and write about the Annabelle Inn. We are always interested in hearing feedback from our guests. It is my hope that we will get another chance to host Jim from Santa Fe and make his stay more enjoyable.

Sincerely,

Charley Case

The Annabelle Inn is a warm and friendly place to stay. We were impressed with the hospitality of the owner and staff. Location was convenient to the town's restaurants and attractions. It was also very easy to use public transportation from there to the Jazz Festival at Snowmass. The room was confortable and clean. We will be back...next time in winter. Thanks for a great stay.

I don't always take the time to resond to the positive reviews here. The entire team would like to thank the many guests who take the time to write reviews. The praise is humbling and the criticism, though often personal, can be learned from.

Mostly, we'd like to thank those who take the time to write to the traveling public and endorse the Annabelle Inn. We hope to see you all back again.

Enjoy your travels,

Charley Case

Considering how pricey Aspen can be, we found that the value, location, and accommodations at Annabelle Inn were great. We arrived late after office hours but the management had our room/keys/instructions waiting for us. Our first room was next to the dining area and apparently above the boiler room which made it a little warm for summer. (great for winter however) We swapped rooms the next morning with no fuss. A plentiful Continental breakfast is served every morning and there are hot tubs for soaking achy body after a days hike around Aspen Mountain.

Front desk staff were the best; friendly and knowledgeable about getting round Aspen. Downtown Aspen is a short 6 block walk, If you want to make an early trip to Maroon Bells-for a spectacular sunrise, the Annabelle Inn is a short 10 mile drive to the site.

Room Tip: We enjoyed a corner room away from Main Street

This was our first trip to Aspen and we booked at the Annabelle Inn based on Trip Advisor reviews and the cost of the room seeming to be fair for the Aspen area. We were in a standard room that faces Main Street. We read in reviews that those rooms had alot of street noise but decided to try it anyway. Our parents payed $20 for a room on the inside courtyard (what all rooms are except for standards) and I would say it was well worth their money. Our room was VERY small... barely large enough to use a luggage rack for our bag, however, the bathroom was good size and very updated and comfortable. But the noise on Main Street was WAY worse than we imagined! The room sits right on the road and it sounded like big trucks were driving by all night. Horrible! You absolutely should not book a standard room. The second night we moved to the inside courtyard and were very pleased! Those rooms are a much better size. This is not a hotel... it's an Inn. So cute and cozy... remind me of an old fashion or European style inn. The staff was absolutely wonderful!! I've never experienced such friendly and helpful workers at any other hotels! They can answer any questions about the area... super helpful and handy! Parking was not a problem for us but the inn was not full when we were there. The continental breakfast was great. The eating area is comfy and cute and has plenty of room. I would recommend the Annabelle Inn (non standard rooms!!) to anyone who is okay with an inn style rather than a fancy hotel.
