I have the joy of living in this town but also had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful hotel in some time ago now and it was nothing but a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff, service, attention to detail. Nothing was too much to ask and the hotel was beautifully kept. It has since been through various renovations and I have yet to have the opportunity to stay again, but I very much look forward to the time when it comes and could not praise enough this wonderful property. Fabulously located in the heart of the town, walking distance to everything, including the mountain. No faults, just total joy and utter perfection.

We loved Hotel Jerome...can't wait to see it renovated...perfect location. My husband and I would only stay here in Aspen. I hope to visit again soon. They could work on breakfast, we prefer a nice buffet when we are skiing. Most mornings we ate in town instead of at the hotel. Not sure if they changed this since the renovation.

The Hotel Jerome is undergoing a remarkable transformation.

My wife and I stayed there during the last week in July. It was the second summer in a row in which we did so. The Jerome always has been known for its unique ambience, which combines the fabled history of the Old West with modern comforts and an unmatched level of service.

I have noted, however, that a few reviewers thought the ambience was too much 19th century and not enough 21st. In their view, the place seemed "old." I don't agree, but soon even those few will have no reason to complain. The Jerome closed at the end of July for a renovation. And I am pleased to be able to provide an early insight into the changes.

During our recent stay, we heard about the coming renovation and we noticed signs on a few doors saying that the rooms were not to be occupied because they were newly renovated as a test of the design. Guessing we had nothing to lose, we asked one of the staff if we could have a sneak peak. We were surprised when he said "Yes." He showed us a small suite and a single room.

The big challenge facing the Jerome, of course, was to retain the historical ambience of this gem of the Old West while adding modern amenities that offer luxury and the feeling of freshness and light. How do you reconcile old and new?

The Jerome and its designers have succeeded magnificently. The rooms are just beautiful. There is no other way to describe them. The heavy and dark brocades are a thing of the past. The wallpapers, tiles, flooring and linens are in fresh, bright and lively designs. They are light, and yet they are made to work perfectly with the substantial wood furnishings that are typical of the West. All the modern electrical and mechanical conveniences are there, too, and they are subtly blended in. And the rooms are as spacious as ever. The feeling definitely is "Old West," but it is clean and new Old West.

Aspen is a place where you want to spend time outdoors. That won't change. But these new rooms at the Jerome will definitely compete for a little more of your time and attention. You won't mind lingering a little longer in the morning and coming back a little sooner in the evening.

The Jerome will re-open in mid-December of this year, and we are looking forward to returning next summer. In addition to enjoying one of the new rooms, we look forward to the impeccable service of the staff--Justin and Leslie in food service, Katie and Missy at the front desk, and so many others whose names we don't recall but who have made our stays at the Jerome an outstanding experience.

WE were married in Aspen in july. We stayed at the Jerome and had our reception under a tent on the lawn. Can not say enough about the staff and thier hard work and great attitude. WE are very well traveled and know good service. The Jerome is extremely well run and we can't wait to visit and see the new look when the 20 million redo is complete. Thanks to everyone at the Jerome you made our wedding week even more soecial than we thought possible.
